Question: The best way to solve the world’s environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Many people believe that raising petrol prices for transportation is the most efficient measure to tackle the environmental issues in the world. While I acknowledge the reasons behind this thinking, I would argue that the authorities could introduce many solutions that offer more suitable results. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people believe the environment will be considerably improved due to a sharp rise in petrol prices. The government decides to raise tax on fuel cost lead to reduce the number of transport. Those who own vehicles, for instance, would take into consideration using public transport to minimize cost. Besides, trading goods would be transported by railway system rather than trucks. These actions would cut down on emission from vehicles and help limit global warming and other consequences like acid rain and the greenhouse effect. On the other hand, I am convinced that increasing prices of petrol is just a stopgap measure, the national and local authorities should adopt more practical policies to comprehensively solve this problem. Firstly, the government should allocate resources to upgrade and expand public transport infrastructure to help moving in the city become more convenient. Thus, people tend to use it instead of private cars to avoid congestion and the emissions could also significantly decrease. Secondly, it is essential to enhance the use of electric vehicles instead of such petrol transportations. For example, the development of new friendly-environmentally electric motorbikes and cars help reduce the amount of petrol consumption and become a sustainable measure with the environment conservation. In conclusion, while there are justifications that rising petrol prices could positively impact on our habitat, I would contend that other solutions would offer long-lasting efficiency. Some people think that a good health is very important should not be run by profit-making companies. Do the advantages of private healthcare outweigh the disadvantages? ————————————————————— Good health is crucial to individuals’ life, so many people argue that it should not be managed by organizations which want to make profit. Although there are several controversies, I totally believe that the positive impacts are bigger than the negative ones. On the one hand, there are some disadvantages about private healthcare runned by profit-making companies that makes people think they waste their money having several additional tests. To be more specific, many private healthcare places often give unnecessary health tests for their patients or force the illness to buy healthcare center’s medicine to earn money. Patients do not know about the tests or the medicine can cost them a lot of money, but their health does not improve positively. Consequently, those private healthcare can make profits from the illness without taking care of their patient’s health. On the other hand, in my opinion, private healthcare centers have higher qualities of service and personal experience. For more illustration, because of the high prices, patients can be looked after carefully and treated with many modern facilities, especially for people who have serious illnesses such as cancer. For example, the patients can be cured with the technology that often lacks in normal hospitals, so they can be treated carefully by best devices and skillful doctors. Moreover, instead of waiting in a long queue in public hospitals, they can reduce time for waiting and take care fast by the nurses and doctors. In conclusion, in spite of some negative effects on having unnecessary tests in private healthcare systems, I hold the opinion that those health centers cure and care of their patients with many high qualified facilities, which may reduce the patients’ levels of illness. Some students prefer to take a gap year between high school and university, to work or to travel. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? There has been much controversy about whether some students in recent years tend to take a year-long break after high school graduation that have more benefits and drawbacks. In my opinion, this trend is more disadvantageous. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people think that taking a gap year is detrimental. One clear disadvantage of it is that it can lead to loss of confidence. The reason is because students can face a peer pressure, they always feel behind in terms of age and learning. Additionally, high school seniors can lose their momentum, finding it hard to continue. For instance, when they take a gap year that is too long, they do not have any motivation to push them come back, everything in front their eyes are spacious and they do not know how to begin with an intense school schedule. This drawback may pose a challenge for students who want to cultivate relevant job skills during the gap year. It is noticeable that most high school seniors graduate, there is a lack of work experience and professional qualifications, and they may end up doing low-paying jobs. On the other hand, I believe there are stronger benefits to delaying tertiary education for a one year. One advantage is that it provides them with more experiences, life skills and soft skills. This is because gap-year affords a new graduated time to travel, immerse themselves in various cultures in the world, which helps them enrich their life experiences and hone practical skills. Such a benefit is especially important for identifying their interests and a suitable career path. The fact is that many schools in Vietnam do not offer workshops aimed at career orientation or attending vocational training courses. They find it challenging to explore their personalities, hobbies, and interests to make a good choice in just a few months. It is quite difficult for students when they need to balance their studies and their orientation. In conclusion, while taking a gap year is not without certain benefits, I would contend that the given disadvantages do not make it a worthwhile path. I totally agree with this statement and this essay will highlight several choices, thanks to the development of our society. It is obvious that accommodation and jobs have captured the public's interest for a long time. Regarding life in cities and rural areas, there are many distinctions of accommodation. For example, many people who are in the hope of higher living standards would tend to live in metropolises because of the development of better services and welfare. In recent years, in many countries, budget allocations for healthcare and infrastructure in large cities have been extended, leading to a better life for inhabitants. By contrast, counter-urbanization has also occurred for a long time, due to overpopulation in metropolises. Therefore, people have to choose the best place for them to settle in. In addition, job networking is also a concrete factor that people can pay attention to. It is ubiquitous that most staff nowadays want to apply for a job with high wage, good welfare and promotion, so they will choose an appropriate agency in order to meet their demands. In terms of the society scale, there are a variety of ways that everyone could contribute to our society. Firstly, people can help disadvantaged individuals if they donate supplies or participate in charity campaigns. For instance, it is not uncommon that a number of charity organizations have been established, which means impoverished people can have a better life. Secondly, to join in environmental conservation, inhabitants can do several household solutions or participate in green movements. Annually, in Vietnam, “We Cycle” are organised to engage people to recycle and reduce plastic consumption. Moreover, it has been investigated that there has been a reduction in soil pollution, thanks to the restriction of undecomposed trash and cleaning detergents in households. In conclusion, among plenty of choices in life, people can choose the best one relying on their standard, hence it leads to a higher living standard and helps them to meet their basic needs.
