In recent years, pressure on school and university students has been increasing and they are pushed to work very hard from a young age. Do you think this is a positive or negative development? Recently, there has been a surge in pressure among students, ranging from school to university. They therefore desire to immerse themselves in working at a young age. From my perspective, this tendency is neither too negative nor positive. To begin with, there are some valuable merits that students might expose to the workplace at an early age. Gaining more practical work experience is the primitive explanation. Given that most scholars start their work soon, they might encounter a wide range of pragmatic circumstances in which the educational system cannot educate them. For example, staff members of a business have to meet different people with dissimilar personalities; they thus come up with various methods to satisfy the demands of these customers. This, in turn, provides young laborers with social knowledge, helping them to enhance their career aptitude and broaden their horizons. Additionally, working early can enable them to earn salaries compared to those who solely rely on studying. This might release the family's financial burden when young people are self-financing as well as confer an opportunity for earlier promotion. Nevertheless, there are some cons that may hinder intellectuals from being workers in their adolescence. Firstly, it is perhaps not effortless for them to find a job in this competitive market. As most enterprises nowadays are willing to yield more profits and maintain a good reputation, they might not appoint those who have inadequate expert knowledge and irrelevant degrees to an important post. Furthermore, seeking a suitable career can contribute to another tense problem that students have to deal with. Secondly, scholars can face numerous drawbacks, such as ill-treatment. On the grounds that young people have robust labor power, some unrespectable bosses can take advantage of them by virtue of their immaturity and lack of empirical awareness. To conclude, from my viewpoint, being forced into hard work is not totally a negative trend. However, parents and teachers may be responsible for counseling and helping students with their future, and educators might be judicious decision-makers. In recent years, pressure on school and university students has been increasing and they are pushed to work very hard from a young age. Do you think this is a positive or negative development? The given bar chart depicts how the number of the UK’s households by their annual income had changed from 2007 to 2015. Overall, as can be seen from the illustration, it is conspicuous that the most prevalent is households having $100,000+ yearly, while the figure for families with $75,000-$99,999 stood at the lowest point over the period. Looking at the data of three lower groups of income, it is noticeable that the number of households earning from $50 thousand to $74,999 annually remained constant at over 20 million throughout the given time. By contrast, there was a coinciding growth in the figures for $25-thousand-and-under and $25,000-$49,999 brackets, which were around 25 million and 28 million respectively. Moving on to other cohorts, the figure for the $100-thousand-and-over group increased considerably by approximately 4 million, to 33 million in 2015, roughly double that for the $75,000-$99,999 bracket, which grew by only 1 million over eight years. It is observed that in many countries, not enough students are choosing to study science subjects. What are the causes? And what will be the effects on society? In recent years, many countries have experienced a noticeable decrease in the number of students pursuing scientific subjects such as maths, physics, chemistry or biology. There are numerous reasons behind this trend, and it will likely have a very negative effect on society. For many years, scientific subjects have been given a very damaging reputation as being very difficult and can only be studied by smart students. This is further compounded by the depiction of maths and science subjects in the media, especially in movies or TV shows aiming at the teenage demographics that stereotype maths or science students as “nerds” or “uncool”, socially awkward kids. As a result, many students have been discouraged from studying science-based subjects. Additionally, the majority regard scientific subjects as being very niche. For example, most future careers do not require a high level of physics or chemistry knowledge, unless one works in a field which directly involves these areas. Thus, unless a student wishes to pursue a university major and/or career in specific scientific subjects, he or she is unlikely to choose to continue with maths or science at high school or secondary level. It is undoubted that the lack of interest and low participation in science disciplines exerts adverse impacts on society. This is because modern technology advancement and innovations have vastly been driven by passionate scientists without whom discoveries would not be made and life quality of humankind would not improve over the years. Furthermore, with the rising number of students opting for business and economics, there will be an imbalance in the future workforce, meaning that job applicants will face fierce competition in those fields while there is a shortage of qualified science professionals. In conclusion, the reasons why students are shying away from science subjects are multiple, and in an era when it is evident that these subjects play an ever-increasing role in our countries’ economies, the potential impact on society is certainly not going to be a positive one. It is observed that in many countries, not enough students are choosing to study science subjects. What are the causes? And what will be the effects on society? In recent years, many countries hav... Topic 4: Today there is a great increase in antisocial personal behavior such as committing a crime. What are the causes of this? Who should be responsible for this problem? A majority of personal behavior in antisociety has significantly mounted in recent years. There are a number of reasons behind this view and several solutions should be adopted by governments and one’s selves to improve this situation. This issue can be explained by two main reasons. The prime reason is a vast number of unappropriate films such as serial killer movies. This is due to a lack of knowledge in distinguishing between right and wrong, and an ability to select suitable films, people are easily influenced by what they witness. Addtionally, a vast number of criminal movies has widely published in recent years, so people have approached them effortlessly. Therefore, those movies have a dramatical impact on people’s action, which leads to their serious crimes such as robbing or killing. Another reason relates to the life pressure. It could be explained by the fact that people have mental health illnesses such as depression as being under pressure of occupation and money, which are two enormously common problems in today’s modern lives. This can drive to behavioral disorders, which causes the delusion between reality and imagination. Consequently, people are not feasible to be aware of what they are doing right or wrong, even might be doing some criminal behaviors. There are two principle individuals having a responsibilty for tackling this problem. One’s selves are the initial human beings solving this problem. Since they should strengthen their mental and physical healthy by avoiding those detrimental influences such as watching serial killer or harshly violent movies, and gaining more knowledge in differentiating between right and wrong. The subsequent individuals who are reponsible to this is governments. As governments might not strictly censor in publishing movies, so some inadequate scenes such as exceedingly bloody or violent scenes are not controlled. This can be a significant impact on personal behaviors that causes numerous crimes. Consequently, governments have a responsibility in administrating those movies. In conclusion, it is clear that there are various reasons for behavior antisociety, and steps need to be taken by governments and individuals to tackle this problem. Some people believe that to protect local culture, tourism should be banned in some areas while others think that change is inevitable and banning tourism will have no benefits. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Of all truisms about tourism, perhaps the truest is that it empowers people of different cultures to interact, learn and evolve. Although this has led to some worry about local culture disappearing as a result of such interaction, my stance is that any kind of restriction or ban on tourism would not only fail to protect local cultures, but also yield no benefits whatsoever. Granted, one might argue that by banning tourist activities in certain places, the traditions and culture in these areas can be preserved. This is predicated on the assumption that with the presence of foreign travelers, native people will be affected by other cultures, ways of life and languages. According to this theory, local people may start to reject their way of life and beliefs to adopt more exotic ones, thinking that these are more enlightened and modern. Without such interaction, perhaps they would not compare their traditions to others, hence preserving the historic and culturally unique traditions, customs or practices of their area. However, this line of reasoning is not sound because the widespread use of internet exposes people to foreign mores, mindsets and values regardless. This means that changes in different facets of life are inexorable, and a form of indoctrination would ensure if their authorities decided to take away their citizens chance to learn by deliberately restricting their access to the world. The corollary of this control would be the loss of critical thinking, which subsequently would have stultifying effects on the progress of society. Furthermore, since tourism is a lucrative industry that also employs lots of people, especially in the service sector, a ban on this industry would result in huge job and economic loss. In conclusion, prohibiting tourist activities for the sake of local culture is an unwise proposal. This is because it is pointless to try to stop change and such a ban would upset the equilibrium of the local economy and cause hardship for local people whose livings depends on the influx of holiday makers. Some people believe that to protect local culture, tourism should be banned in some areas while others think that change is inevitable and banning tourism will have no benefits. The table below shows the number of visitors in the UK and their average spending from 2003 to 2008. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant. The table gives information about visitors to the United Kingdom annually from 2003 to 2008, including their number, spending, and length of stay. It indicates that while more people came to visit the UK over time and spent more money, their average stay seems to have shortened after 2006. There were overall increases in both the number of travelers to the UK and how much money they spent. Over these six years, visitor number grew by about eight million from around 24 million to 32 million with the exception of a drop of one million in the final year. Likewise, total spending by these visitors also showed an upward trajectory – a 40% increase – to more than 16 billion pounds. On a per-visit basis, spending also rose steadily by £35 in 5 years to £511 despite an initial drop and some substantial increases from 2005 to 2006 and 2007 to 2008. By contrast, the length of stay for visitors to the UK did not show the same rising trend. In 2003, an average person travelling to the UK remained for 8.2 nights, and their stay lengthened marginally to 8.4 after three years. By 2007, however, there had been a sudden drop in the duration of stay, to only 7.7 nights on average, a figure which remained unchanged the following year. Topic 6: People living in the 21st century have a better life than people who lived in previous centuries. To what extent do you agree or disagree? There is an ongoing debate that the 21st century living period of civilians is more prominent than the earlier one. Personally, I completely agree with the notion that the more advances in different aspects are mentioned in the 21st century life. Owning a fulfilled life in the 21st century is deemed to attract several reasons. The main reason is the innovation of technology. It could be explained by the fact that the world’s technology has been recently applied in discovering and generating new inventions such as wireless devices, which brings about obtaining the ultimate convenience for human beings. One case in point is that cellphones are spreadly produced to entitle people to communicate to each other by wireless without meeting in person. Therefore, the living quality of individuals has gradually enhanced because of its convenience. Another reason relates to the progress of medical foundation. This is because a variety of medical technology procedures have given admissions for researchers to discover unknown diseases and the completely exterminative remedies for existing ones. More and more people are migrating to cities in search of a better life, but city life can be extremely difficult. Explain some of difficulties of living in a city. How can the governments make urban life better for everyone? In the contemporary world, life in cities has aroused the public’s interest in recent years because of a search for a higher living standard. However, there are a variety of problems that citizens have to face. This essay will highlight several issues of city life and suggest some solutions for the governments to tackle them. It is conspicuous that there are numerous obstacles, preventing people from having a better life in urban areas. Firstly, it is obvious that the cost of living in cities has risen for a long time, which means services such as healthcare or entertainment are unaffordable for some people. Therefore, the living standard could be reduced, even leading to depression and anxiety disorder. Secondly, environmental pollution also has a great impact on human’s health, especially air pollution. As a result, people have to face a risk of asthma and other respiratory issues. Thirdly, The lack of job opportunities also plays a crucial role in reducing living standards in big cities, so that city dwellers may struggle in search of work, causing a rise in unemployment and crimes. In order to enhance living conditions, the governments should solve those issues thoroughly. Regarding the rate of unemployment, the more the policy broadens job networking opportunities, the less the number of criminal offences could be. Moreover, by establishing campaigns and movements to protect the environment, the life of citizens can be better. For example, “We Cycle” is an annual campaign, where people can take part in plastic collection activities and recycle them into other products. Ultimately, if the budget allocation for services were extended, inhabitants could meet their basic needs without a lack of financial resources. In conclusion, to solve a number of issues that are appearing across the board, the governments need to participate in dealing with those problems in a thorough way, promoting the living conditions of residents. question: The internet has transformed the way information is shared and consumed, but it has also created problems that did not exist before. What are the most serious problems associated with the Internet and what solutions can you suggest? In this day and age, the proliferation of internet usage has led to significant alternations in the way people share and consume information. While this change causes loads of issues in societies, there are still solutions implemented by governments, local authorities and families. This problem can be explained by two main reasons. First of which is the advantages that some easily accessible websites can take from the internet user, especially from the young people. It can be seen that there are still teenagers who are not of age, try to swindle the censorship on some social platforms for pornographic purposes. These websites, however, give a tacit agreement due lack of consistence in pecuniary benefits from the young age. Another major issue is the appearance of a new type of scheme which is e-fraud or account hacking. These frauds, finally, result in being appropriated property or releasing one’s personal information which can considerably affect their lives. Fortunately, several measures can be implemented to alleviate these problems. Initially, governments should thoroughly check the validation of sites rather than simply old-enough confirmation. This can contribute to preventing the youth from inappropriate and dangerous online information or better still, imposing stricter legislation and punishment as a censored caution on websites that infringe intentionally. In addition, some campaigns should be raised by local authorities in order to raise awareness related to the accurate way to use Internet safety to protect individual’s possession and private information. Besides, families also play a significant role in this issue due to the closest relationship. Parents should closely monitor their children and restrict their access to certain sites. Obviously, without parents’ supervision, it is understandable why there is such a growing number of teenagers approaching unsuitable media. Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age. Some think they should begin at at least 7 years old. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Some people believe that it is optimal for children to attend formal schools when they are young while others advocate that this is only suitable for children aged 7 and over. This essay will elaborate both views before giving reasons why I agree with the latter opinion. Admittedly, preschools and early education settings provide opportunities for children to develop soft skills. This is because such educational institutions facilitate them with suitable curriculum and peers who they can interact with and learn from As a result, early education can stimulate children's cognitive development and emotional growth through engaging them in hands on activities. However, parents especially in Asia countrie, expected the children to get good grades and academic success from a young age, thus can makes them feel pressured and overstudy. This can lead to mental illnesses and unfortunate incidents can occured such as a second grade children committed suicide you due to the excessive amount of homework in China. Therefore, delaying formal education to a latter age can protentially reduce stress and anxiety for children as it allowed them to enjoy a more extended period of childhood. Children can spend time to participate in physical activity and play with your friends in the neighborhood which also has positive impact on the their cognitive abilities. From what has been discussed above, one can conclude that despite the benefits, beginning to go to school at a young age can has detrimental effects on children well-being. It is my belief that the government should enforce laws regarding young students's study so they do not feel overpressured. Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age. Some think they should begin at at least 7 years old. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Nowadays, many people drive to work or school instead of walking, cycling or using public transport. Is this a positive or negative development? In recent years, there has been a growing concern over the problems caused by evolving means of transportation. Many people prefer commuting to their workplace or educational institution by using their private vehicles rather than using public services. While cars certainly offer inevitable conveniences, from my perspective, I personally agree that going by passenger cars should be seen as a negative development. A major drawback of commuting is that it creates more traffic congestion. Private automobiles, which can only accommodate four to seven individuals at a time, take up space on city roadways. Consequently, commuters may be stuck in traffic for hours during peak hours, leading to lost productivity and a detrimental impact on the residents' mental health. In Vietnam, for example, during commute hours, citizens have to endure noise and traffic jams, as well as hours of delays. Another negative aspect of driving cars on city streets is their detrimental impact on the environment. This is because automobiles are one of the primary sources of air pollution, as they release large amounts of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. According to data, highway vehicles release about 1.4 million tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere each year, contributing to global climate change. Studies have shown that in Europe, 80-90% of cars’ environmental impact comes from fuel consumption and emissions of air pollution and greenhouse gases, which can damage the inhabitants' life expectancy and increase the risk of respiratory diseases such as lung cancer, heart attacks, and asthma. Finally, driving private cars gives less time for other more healthy activities, like walking in the park or following another hobby. This is because walking and cycling will burn calories and excess fat while using passenger automobiles triggers numerous physical illnesses mainly overweight, obesity, and fast heartbeats. Consequently, people's health may be depleted and exhausted. In conclusion, with the aforementioned explanations, I strongly believe that the development of passenger cars has many shortcomings, causing harmful effects on human longevity and the environment. Nowadays, many people drive to work or school instead of walking, cycling or using public transport. Is this a positive or negative development? In recent years, there has been a growing concern o...
