The bar chart below shows the proportions of English men and women of different ages who were living alone in 2011. The pie chart compares the numbers of bedrooms in these one-person households. The bar chart illustrates the percentages of demographics of English males and females who lived alone in 2011, while the pie chart depicts the number of bedrooms in one household. Overall, it is readily apparent that women aged 65 and over constituted the highest proportion of people living alone, whereas the majority of one-person households tended to have two bedrooms. Based on the pie chart, the majority of people were attracted to 2 bedrooms, at 35.4%. One bedroom and three bedrooms accounted for 28% and 29.8%, respectively, making them the third and second most popular types of one-person households. Just under one-tenth of single-occupant homes had four or more bedrooms. Around 63% of women aged 65 to 74 lived alone, while the figure for men was much lower, at 38%. Females occupied approximately 72% of single occupants aged 75 to 84, as opposed to nearly 28% of males who stayed alone. There were 76% of females aged 85 and over living alone, compared to 25% of men. However, this trend was reversed for the younger age groups, with the 50-64 and 16-24 age groups recording more than half of male residents living independently. Similarly, roughly 62% of men aged 25 to 34 and 65% of men between 35 and 49 years of age lived alone, higher than their female counterparts by one third. Đề: Some people think that good health is very important to every person, so medical services should not be run by profit-making companies. Do the advantages of private health care outweigh the disadvantages? There is a belief that allowing profit-making companies to run medical services is unwise, as a healthy body is the key to human lives. This essay will discuss both positive and negative points about private health care and it holds an unbiased view. Numerous individuals believe these companies caring much about profit usually put all their efforts into encouraging patients to take medical tests and use medicines more than it is necessary. Instead of truly caring about customers’ health and giving substantial pieces of advice, these medical companies will amplify the illness and incline patients to take more tests and pay for the bills. For example, the doctor will ask a patient to come back on another day to check their health while it is not an extremely severe case; as a result, the patient has to pay an extra bill for the next check. In several cases, these additional bills can harmfully affect customers’ health. In other words, private health care is also an increasing trend as it is more secure and more accurate. It is undeniable that each person has a distinct health condition so there are different treatments amongst patients even though they suffer from the same disease. Private health care has arisen to solve this problem since it can focus on a particular resident and treat only one patient at a time. Therefore, the result will be more correct and faster. For instance, according to a survey conducted in Vietnam, 75 percent of attendees agreed that by using private health care they would have feedback immediately while the rest admitted that they had to wait for 3 hours to get the results. To sum up, despite the unethical ways to make more profit of several companies, there is evidence that applying for private health care is indeed beneficial because of its accuracy and speed. More and more people no longer read newspapers or watch TV programs to get news. They get news about the world through the Internet. Is this a positive or negative development? Essay: These days, controversies have arisen over a phenomenon that a growing number of individuals tend to acquire news online in lieu of physical newspapers and television programs. From my perspective, despite several drawbacks of this tendency, I strongly advocate the sentiment that this is a positive development by virtue of numerous advantages that are worth analyzing. On the one hand, proponents of the idea that this alteration has an adverse bearing on the society have their own convincing arguments. Firstly, obtaining news from the Internet can facilitate the spread of misleading information due to a lack of fact-checking features from various online outlets. As a consequence, netizens would freely share unofficial news or information regardless of its authenticity, while readers are more likely to be misled. Secondly, the convenience of staying updated on news and events through the Internet can make it easy to get addicted to certain media channels like Facebook and Twitter. Once addicted, people cannot focus on more important tasks, which greatly influences their concentration and performance. On the other hand, it is clearly apparent that the Internet offers more current updates and a more fascinating experience. The first favorable aspect is that news obviously travels faster on the Internet compared to traditional media sources. Unquestionably, audiences can instantly update articles and share news through social networks, whereas newspapers are often only updated daily and require customers to physically purchase them from newstands. The second bonus point to consider is that individuals can stay informed about current events with useful audiovisual elements thanks to the emergence of online media sources, which assists viewers in comprehending the information more easily. This is primarily because news coverage on the Internet usually uses video footage to illustrate the course of an event as opposed to merely boring texts and pictures in conventional newspapers. To summarize, although the increasing tendency of using the Internet as their main source of news could give rise to the spread of false news along with an addiction to the Internet, I firmly believe that it is overall more beneficial as it provides users with faster updates and better experiences. There was a moderate increase of 30.000 travelers in the mountains from 1987 to 1997, then its figure underwent a five-year period of stability, followed by a steady rise to roughly 35.000 visitors in the last year of the period. Turning to other features, beginning with 10,000 visitors in 1987, the lakes quadrupled after a decade and continued to rise steadily, overtaking the coast as the most visited destination in a European country. Some people feel that the government should regulate the level of violence in films on television and at the cinema. Others feel that violent films should not be regulated. Discuss both views and give your opinion
In light of the increasing number of violent movies being aired on television and at the cinema, one school of thought holds that the level of violence in such movies should be regulated. However, other people opine that violent movies should not be regulated. This essay will examine both viewpoints, before concluding that I agree with the latter. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people believe that the authority should limit the level of violence in films. Their key rationale is in favor of the notion that movies of this kind contain graphic images like blood pictures. Thus, some audiences might find these scenes disturbing and this can even take a toll on their mental health. Another reason is that some individuals can mimic the illegal actions in films containing too much violence content. For example, some people can adopt the actions in films that have fighting scenes and develop the tendency to be more aggressive. This, in turn, can lead to several social issues such as the increase in the crime rates and social unrest. On the other hand, I subscribe to the viewpoint that violent films should not be regulated. To begin with, people should have the autonomy to watch the movies of their personal preferences as long as these movies do not encourage illegal actions. Depriving people of the right to do what they wish can instill in them a sense of resentment or even rebellious behaviors. Moreover, by watching violent movies, the general public can be better informed about the dire repercussions the people who violate the laws have to face and have a better understanding of the law systems. The implication of this is that they will refrain from breaking the law, thereby lowering the crime rates. In conclusion, despite legitimate concerns about the negative impacts of violent films, I would contend that these films should not be restricted. In light of the increasing number of violent movies being aired on television and at the cinema, one school of thought holds that the level of violence in such movies should be regulated. Topic 1: Parents should encourage their children to spend less time on studying and more time on physical activities. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is argued that parents are necessary to impulse their children to join more physical activities instead of exceedingly focusing on studying. Personally, I totally agree with this view. The option to let children spend time on physical activities is attractive for several reasons. The prime reason is the significant impact of physical health. It could be clarified that overloaded homeworks given to children have an enormous influence on their physical health since they become exhausted after fulfilling those, which causes their laziness of doing physical activities. Consequently, a great number of children have an increased tendency of obesity. Moreover, children might obtain acquaintance with new friends is the subsequent reason. Some outdoor physical activities require to play in a team, so they must get into conversation with each other, which is the supreme way of building a new relationship and enhancing the teamwork spirit. As a result, children become extroverts and more optimistic, which assists to form a strong mental health and against the negative energy. The additional reason is the dramatically increasing productivity of children. It can be explained by the fact that children’s body is presumed that it will release the dopamine hormone that is known as a happy hormone when doing physical activities. It makes them to gain more energy that will seriously boost their productivity, and finally, the work efficiency and concentration gradually develop right after children are back to study. In conclusion, for the reasons I have mentioned above, I maintain that children should be advised to participate in physical activities by their parents instead of concentrating on studying. Topic 2: More and more people no longer read newspapers or watch TV programs to get news. They get news about the world through the Internet. Is this a positive or negative development? Because the enhancement of technology in delivering news such as the Internet, people have not been fascinated in acquiring news from the original ways like reading newspapers or watching TV programs. I consider it to be a very positive trend. Personally, I deem this a positive development. The first reason for my belief is the convenience that it has brought. This is because people can approach news every time, every where as long as they want through the Internet by electronic devices such as phones or tablets. For example, more websites for online newspaper like Saigonnews or BBC news have published widely, which gives people an ability of getting news immediately. As a result, people will save much time on getting news instead of purchasing newspapers or following news from TV programs. In addtion, the up-to-date news is the subsequent reason. This could be explained by the fact that orginal newspapers need to collect, select and print news from reporters, so those take much more time than online newspapers which just require the collecting and selecting process. For instance, the latest news on the scene such as unexpected accidents will be immediately collected and published within a hour to alert people to be careful, while original newspapers or TV programs need more than a week to publicize. Consequently, the newest information is instantly radiated to individuals, and online newspapers generate an opportunity to catch the latest news. In conclusion, I consider this a positive development given the convenience and the latest news it provides a chance for people to easily approach. It is recommended that online newspapers websites should be encouraged to thrive. Topic 2: More and more people no longer read newspapers or watch TV programs to get news. Overall, while Liverpool citizens tended to live in apartments, Semi-detached Houses seemed to be more attractive for those whose houses were in London and Manchester. By contrast, Terraced Houses comprised the lowest percentage for all three cities throughout the given year. Turning to the detail, the proportion of Liverpool apartment residents made up the highest figure with nearly 60% of the total, compared to just under 10% that of Terraced Houses, which was also the bottom proportion in 2009. In addition, both percentages of London and Manchester residents choosing apartments, at around 30% and 20% respectively were contrary to an approximately 10% rate difference in people opting for Terraced Houses (about 20% and 10% correspondingly) The second most preferable settlement was Semi-detached Houses in both London and Manchester, with the same percentage of 38%, which was nearly similar to Detached ones in Manchester (35%). London and Liverpool, however, showed less interest in these types of accommodation with around 25% and 15% in the order given. It can be observed that in 1999, Switzerland was by far the most valuable market consuming coffee from Fairtrade-labelled with 3 millions of euros. The opposite was true for Sweden’s figure which stood at 0.8 millions. Over the following five years, the Unite Kingdom witnessed an enormous increase from 1.5 to 20, far surpassing the other countries. Sweden, however, was the lowest with 1 millions in consuming coffee. The given charts reveal how the police budget changed between 2017 and 2018 in a particular area of Britain. While the sources of this budget was shown in the table, the distribution was elucidated in the pie charts. Overall, as can be seen from the table, it is conspicuous that the police budget was more and more paid attention with the amount of money having surged over the period. Regarding the distribution, while there were several changes of other categories, the funding for buildings and transport remained constant. Looking at the table for more details, the amount of money from the National Government was the highest, which increased slightly from about 175m to nearly 178m over a year. Additionally, there was a considerable climb of the figure for the Local taxes by roughly 10m, reaching the second position in 2018. In contrast, the amount of money from other sources experienced a minimal growth to 38.5m, which was approximately 10 times lower than the total (318.6m ) by the end of the given time. Moving on to the pie charts, it is obvious that after reaching a peak of 75% in 2017, the figure for salaries fell to 69% after one year, which was followed by that for buildings and transport (17%). The two maps depict the changes in the school’s infrastructure from 1985. From an overall perspective, there were several additions of learning resources to improve both students’ mental and physical health and the classroom blocks were widened due to the growth in population. In contrast, the playing fields were more narrow. In the northern part, the two car parks were merged into a large one located between the entrance and exit, and it was surrounded by a curvy path. Trees were added just in front of the parking lots, replacing the main road in 1985. In the northwest, the office was enlarged, and the library was replaced by a huge learning resources center. Additionally, a computer room was built inside that center. In the eastern area, the third classroom storey was erected above the two old buildings. Question: Some people think that newspapers are the best way to learn news. However, others believe that they can learn news better through other media. Discuss both views and give your opinion? As today’s technological proliferation, conventional newspapers are no longer the sole source of information, but news from the internet and some other social platforms. Despite arguments about whether newspapers or online news is the best way to help people stay informed, I maintain that both are the same only if individuals select a reputable origin. On the one hand, to most people around the world, namely the elderly, traditional newspapers seem more reliable than newer media information. This is because of its long-term existence before the emergence of the internet and most senior citizens are familiar with this type of reading, thus, they do not want to change to an uncertain source. Moreover, most printed news is written by professional journalists and it often undergoes a process of cautious checking, edition and censorship before publication. This enables citizens to be informed about accurate happenings around them. On the other hand, news coming from the internet somehow surpasses its traditional version to some certain extent. First, the rationale behind humans’ preference towards online newspapers is their speed, low cost and flexibility across a plethora of convenient platforms. For instance, people can obtain free information from Facebook, Instagram or other social websites at any time of the day without paying for daily newspapers and waiting for up-to-date news like the past. In addition, digital news offers more varied content compared to the conventional print which can incorporate high-quality videos, images, audios which is impossible on the fundamental news. As a result, it provides greater illustrative depictions and immense insights about the discussed problems. In conclusion, news in both offline and online platforms benefit readers a great range of information and none of them are less significant. However, from my perspective, individuals must also choose the right news source in order to not mislead deceiving information. Đề:The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. The line graph illustrates information about the consumption of four different types of meat (including chicken, beef, lamb, and fish) in Europe over five years beginning in 1979 and ending in 2004. Overall, it is clear that the figure for fish witnessed a downward trend. The opposite showed an upward trend for chicken, beef, and lamb. However, there was a fluctuating increase in the figure for chicken. It can be seen from the graph, that the amount of chicken consumed started with 150 grams per person per week. Then, the number of chickens rose to the peak of the point at just under 250 grams by the end of the period. While the number of beef fluctuated at about 200 grams in 1979. Task 1 - Line & table
Chào quý thầy cô, nhờ môi người dành chút thời gian đánh giá giúp em bài này với ạ, em cảm ơn. The given line graph and table illustrate the variation of monthly average temperatures and the total yearly hours of sunshine in three different cities including London, New York, and Sydney. Overall, there are different tendencies in the fluctuations of the average temperatures each month in each city. Besides, New York seems to be the city receiving the biggest amount of sunshine during the year. It is clear that New York and London have shared the same trend in season distribution. In specific, cold weather lasts from November with approximately 10 degree in temperature for both cities. These numbers for London then continuously declines to 9 degree, which is nearly twice as much as that of New York in the next two months. From February, two figures experience a slight increase to around 15 degree in April, which is a sign of a changing of season. Three months later, the statistics for New York sharply climb and peak at 30 degree before breaking the trend and decreasing gradually to 20 degree in October. A similar pattern applied to data for London, it witnesses a considerable jump to just below 25 degree in July and then goes down month over month to nearly 15 degree in October. This might lead to the total of sunshine hours in London accounting for 1180, which was half of the figure for New York City. A totally contrasting trend can be seen in the data for weather in Sydney, which receives about 2473 hours of sunshine every year. In this area, the hot season begins in November with around 25 degree in the average temperature and remains unchanged in 5 consecutive months. In early April, this number starts becoming cooler and decreases to a bit higher than 15 degree in July before rising again to 23 degree in October. Some people think that the best way to reduce traffic congestion in cities is to increase the price of petrol. To what extent do you agree or disagree? The argument of whether the best way to deal with traffic jams in cities is increasing the petrol taxes has sparked a heated debate. While some individuals believe that higher petrol’s price cannot completely tackle the issue, others hold opposing view. From my perspective, I strongly disagree with this suggestion and this essay will outline the reason behind. Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that increasing the price of petrol would have a negative impact on the economy and the environment. In other words, higher petrol prices would lead to increased transportation costs for businesses, resulting in higher prices for consumers. This, in turn, could lead to reduced consumer spending, potentially impacting economic growth. Additionally, higher petrol prices would encourage more fuel consumption, which in itself would contribute to greater greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating global warming and climate change. In brief, the idea of raising petrol prices could be detrimental in many aspects, including the economy and the environment It is not to say that increasing the cost of petrol might not benefit the problems in some aspects, however, it could not completely tackle the traffic congestion. There are numerous factors that contribute to the frequent traffic jams nowadays like the availability and quality of public transport, the routes and other alternatives. In detail, in many cities, public transport is overcrowded and unreliable as it involves many risks in punctuality and criminal issues, making it unattractive for commuters. For instance, there are crimes such as pickpocketing or even sexual harassment which could easily be caught on public transport that make people more and more cautious about using this means of transport. Moreover, other alternatives, such as cycling, walking, may not be feasible or convenient due to long distances or in bad weather conditions. Therefore, people may still prefer to use their private vehicles, even if they have to pay more for petrol. In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the idea of increasing the petrol’s price to reduce congestion in cities as the disadvantages outweigh the advantages in many aspects like economy and environment. I think a better solution should be considered is to improve the public transport system and infrastructure to provide more incentives and subsidies for using public transport or other alternatives, and to raise awareness and education about the benefits of reducing car usage. Some people think that the best way to reduce traffic congestion in cities is to increase the price of petrol. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
