The line graph illustrates how Australia exported its products to four countries, including Japan, the US, China and India, from 1990 to 2012. Overall, there was an increase in the proportion of Australian exports to China and India, with the most dramatic rise being seen in the figures for China. Despite that, exports to the US and Japan experienced a decrease over the given time frame. Looking at the chart in more details, in 1990, India and China were the smallest export partners for Australia, with negligible figures of 1% and 2%, respectively. Thereafter, China experienced a significant increase over a period, as the percentage of exports to this country steadily rose to 5% in 2000, before surging more than fivefold to 27% in the final year. Likewise, India maintained a marginal presence in Australia's export market, at just 1%in the first decade, after which its share slightly increased, reaching a peak 7% in 2010, before falling back to 5% two years later. With regard to the remaining countries, in the first year, Japan was the leading destination shown for Australian goods, with more than a quarter of total exports going there, twice the figure for the US, at 11%. In the following years, the figures for Japan fell to 17%, and stayed unchanged in the two final years. Topic: Some people think that success in life comes from hard work and determination while others think that there are more important factors such as money and appearance. Discuss both views and give your opinion. While some people are in the opinion that diligence and determination are essential contributors to achievement in life, others believe that wealth and physical attractiveness are more significant. In this essay, I will delve into both viewpoints and lean towards the latter. On the one hand, it is undeniable that money and personal appearance play a vital role in leading to success. The main point is that money can facilitate individuals’ career paths by providing a well-rounded education which is believed to be the shortest way to success. To illustrate, most of the rich can embark on high-quality education without financial burden, therefore, they can apply themselves to academic performance and hands-on experience to enhance their knowledge and interpersonal skills. This opens doors to secure jobs in the future. Another catalyst is that an attractive appearance is a primary key in certain industries such as fashion or entertainment. For example, if actors or singers have eye-catching physical appearances, they would draw much attention from the audience, which is a positive beginning for their career in the long run. On the other hand, I contend that wealth and beauty are only a stepping stone to initial success, thus, studiousness and determination offer a better chance of achieving long-term success. This is because not everyone comes from a wealthy background or is good-looking, as a result, they have to put a host of effort into working and studying to achieve their goals. Take J.K Rowling, a writer of Harry Porter, as a testament to this case. In the beginning, her draft of Harry Porter was turned down by 12 different publishers when she was a single mother living on social welfare. With her persistence and non-stop attempts, in the thirteenth, Bloomsbury agreed to publish the book, and then Harry Porter went viral and became one of the most successful books of the times. International travel has many advantages to both travelers and the countries they visit. Do you think that the benefits of international travel outweigh the drawbacks? All nations receive huge profits from many projects in their countries. Also, more than 60% of the huge profits from international travel because they can exchange cultural customs in many worlds. In my opinion, there are numerous drawbacks to this suggestion akin to over-tourism, and cultural erosion. On the one hand, the international travel benefits to both travelers and host countries are undeniable. Construction facilities to attract visitors is an eminent strategy to accomplish the development country. Not only the economic travel growing but also a number of opportunities unemployment have a new job. Additionally, when the number of promotions on social media, will make a vast number of visitors go to experience and take photographs of landscape and cuisine. All of them could push the domestic economy rate of the tourism industry. Likewise, the profit of this project can use rally extend stretch of places attracted numerous vacationers and upgrade services for vacationers. On the other hand, the main drawback when exchanging culture is cultural erosion. This is because diverse cultures are significantly increasing over time and age always changes constantly. As a result, we easily forget the customs of our nation and catch new things to attract travelers and grab the attention of other citizens of countries. The second negative impact is over-tourism because receiving too many customers at the same time, will lead to the inability to control the quality of service and food. Likewise, overcrowding tourist attractions will lead to unfortunate situations such as tourists possibly fainting in crowded places due to lack of oxygen. For example, hundreds of people died due to jostling and lack of oxygen in the Itaewon area of Seoul, South Korea. To sum up, this is the reason why culture can be eroded and fade away over time. In conclusion, the travel industry always the huge profits for a lavish country. However, if we try to upgrade and provide diverse cultures the other nations in our country, the local customs will disappoint. I believe a lavish country should preserve cultural heritage, reflect cultural values with cultural customs, and second is international travel. Prompt: All university students should do some voluntary work to help the local community. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Undergraduates in recent years have received enormous advocacy for community volunteering thanks to its positive impact on society. However, viewpoints are saying that potential drawbacks significantly affect their academic achievements which I strongly disagree with. I entirely support the statement that pupils studying in universities ought to do social charitable activities, attaching several pieces of evidence. Doing voluntary work heedlessly causes disadvantages for university students. Concentration loss, time-consuming, and study neglect could happen to those who find social volunteering interesting. For instance, a guy who participates in a community project may spend hours designing a proposal to send and ask for sponsors or receive calls during school time to solve relevant work. These negative impacts seriously alienate not only students’ school performances but also their mental health. On the other hand, the benefits can be gained when joining charitable activities completely outweigh the other in this term. Working for social purposes provides valuable opportunities for undergraduates to enhance life skills, such as time management, teamwork,... Besides, raising students’ awareness of understanding impoverished people and sympathy is what unpaid community service aims at. Therefore, more and more disadvantaged individuals are having better living conditions thanks to noble actions of students. Specifically, the proportion of those who are in the poverty line is more likely to reduce. Consequently, local society is step by step being improved and upgraded.. In conclusion, although doing voluntary work for community purposes impedes university students’ academic performances, it is strongly supported thanks to its benefits for the undergraduates themselves and the society. Some people believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they did their training. Others believe they should be free to work in another country if they wish. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Opinions are divergent regarding the matter of whether it is advisable to require professionals to dedicate themselves to the development of the country in which they are educated. The aim of this essay is to delve into both viewpoints and to give my opinion on this idea. It is understandable why many individuals advocate the idea that professionals must work in the nation where they receive training from. One primary rationale behind this is that governments make great contributions to supporting students’ studying, by totally or partly covering tuition fees. Therefore, in order to reinforce the economic stability and national budget, postgraduates can be obliged to devote their effort to that country and be levied taxes on their incomes. Another factor leading to that belief is that the working environment in that country may seem to be more familiar to students, thereby enhancing their productivity more significantly compared to working in a new country. However, I would firmly argue that students must be given an allowance to choose their workplace freely. One plausible explanation to reason my view is that forcing people to work in the country training them may infringe the liberty of work. Consequently, if the job position or working environment do not align with their desires, the motivation and efficiency at work have the tendency to decrease gradually, thus bringing less positive outcomes. Additionally, professionals should be given the right to work in nations which can facilitate their career prospects. As a matter of fact, keeping people staying in the same country may cause excessive labor force, leading to unemployment. Hence, professionals must be permitted to work in any country to ensure their stable occupations as well as make sure that their abilities can contribute to the advancement of humanity. In conclusion, although there are several advantages to require professionals to work in the country where they fulfilled their training courses, my firm conviction is that allowing them to work in another nation can bring far more significant benefits to their career path. Opinions are divergent regarding the matter of whether it is advisable to require professionals to dedicate themselves to the development of the country in which they are educated. With the advance of technology, it has become very easy to learn through the Internet about the way people live in their life in different countries. However, I would argue that learning online is a useful tool to approach new information and knowledge, but written documents will hold a certain value in educating people about customs and cultures from other countries. On the one hand, Video records provide multiple ways to learn about how people around the world. Firstly, people tend to watch videos compared than read, because of visually exciting and interesting. For example, films and document videos or short clip videos on YouTube and TikTok are highly stimulating and encouraging ways of learning. Furthermore, it is easier for researchers who can assess different platforms to watch unlimited resources on the world, which allows them to learn mostly subjects, including history, art, and customs of different countries. On the other hand, written documents such as magazines, newspapers, and books are also an excellent source of materials. Studies have shown that reading is an effective methodology for learning compared to watching videos, especially when it comes to the retention of specific details of information. Moreover, books are also reliable resources over the period, eminent writers spent a long time to be able to public the value of customs and people through old books. Therefore, not only does reading expand our knowledge, but reading also indirectly supports writers. In conclusion, I do agree that researching information through the Internet plays a pivotal role in learning, but reading books is still an effective learning tool. Explain some of the ways in which humans are damaging the environment. What can governments do to address these problems? What can individual people do?
Humans are the main factor which causes damages to the environment. To descend serious problems from those consequences, the government and people need to take steps to solve it. It is true that ecosystems are receiving damages from human activities. First and foremost, gas emissions from factories and exhaust fumes from vehicles are released everyday, which contribute to air pollution leading to poorer air quality. Another reason need to be considered is littering, which also increases soil pollution and ocean pollution. Solid waste such as plastic bags, traws, etc, which are difficult to decompose, are littered all over the street and in water ocean through travelers to beaches. Consequently, these waste sink into solid and water, causes serious issues related to pollution and affect human and animal health. As some negative results mentioned above, the government and individuals are responsible for making effort to address these issues. To begin with, the government should introduce laws to control the amount of emissions from factories and encourage them use renewable energy such as solar, wind and hydro energy instead of solid energy. When it comes to individuals' responsibility, people can launch campaigns to convey messages about the problems to environment to others to raise awareness, which can affect people's mind and change their behavior positively such as stop littering and clean contaminated place around their areas. In conclusion, human activities have negative impacts on the environment, causing several consequences. Therefore, taking actions to decrease these problems are necessary by both governments and individuals. Humans are the main factor which causes damages to the environment. The bar chart illustrates how the daily leisure time spent on six different recreational activities varied between Americans aged from 15 to 19 and those over 75 in 2015. Overall, the senior group dedicated a larger proportion of their time to passive activities, including watching TV, reading, relaxing and thinking. In contrast, social activities like socializing, playing games and participating in physical exercises were more common among the youth. Both age groups spent the most time watching TV. Passive activities were more popular among older people, with watching TV taking the lead, consuming 4.5 hours of their day. The youth also favored TV, but to a lesser extent, with 2.4 hours spent daily. At 1 hour, reading was the second most common activity for the senior while young individuals spent 12 minutes on it. Seniors also devoted more time to contemplation and relaxation, with an average of 36 minutes, compared to just 6 minutes for the young. Active activities, on the other hand, were more favored among teenagers. Computer use was the second most popular activity for this group, with 1,1 hours, double the half-hour daily average for the senior. Task 2: In some countries, a few people earn extremely high salaries. Some people think that this is good for a country, while others believe that the government should control salaries and limit the amount people can earn. Discuss both views and give your opinion? Opinions diverge on whether high income levels for people are beneficial to the nation or salaries should be regulated and limited by the government. This essay will shed light on both views before concluding that restricting the maximum income individuals can earn is more advantageous for national development. On the one hand, proponents of excessive wage levels for employees may cite economic prosperity as their primary argument. It is a fact that as average income increases, so does the tax revenue from residents, which results in economic growth. Furthermore, earning substantial compensation packages serves as an incentive for workers. It is evident that employees who demonstrate competence and remarkable achievements at work are often rewarded with high salaries. This can have a positive motivational influence on other individuals to boost their productivity. However, this line of reasoning is not sound since the effects of paying astronomical wage levels are linked to social issues such as the increase in income gap and crime rate, which affect national development negatively. On the other hand, the government should impose a ceiling on personal earnings to promote income equality and reduce crime rate. Differences in income level contribute to significant wealth gaps, which leads to the increase in poverty and financial hardship; therefore, the government should ensure that wealth is evenly distributed throughout a country by setting a limit on people’s earnings. Moreover, it is hardly undeniable that a significant gap between low and high salaries can cause a disaffection among individuals at work, leading to social conflicts. On top of that, countries with a considerable income gap tend to have higher poverty and crime rates compared to those with narrower economic disparities. Hence, it is necessary for the government to cap individuals’ earnings to foster a more equitable and harmonious society. In conclusion, despite seeming benefits associated with high employee incomes, I side with the opponents of such an idea and believe that constraining the amount individuals can make can have a positive effect on national development. IELTS WRITING TASK 2
Technology is responsible for unemployment. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Nowadays, it is clear that unemployment is one of the major concerns in a large number of governments. Because of this, the reason why people are jobless has always been a much debated topic. It is believed that up-to-date devices are attributed to the lack of jobs. In my opinion, I would argue that there are different reasons that affect the problem of being out of work. There is no doubt that technology takes responsibility for the unemployment rate. Obviously, modern devices are exchanging man in manufacturing. One typical example is the robots which not only are extremely intelligent but also complete tasks rapidly. Hence, they are faster and more productive than humans, which helps companies save their time and cost. As a result, these companies have a tendency to use these modern devices instead of humans, especially low-skilled labours, for their production lines, which increases the unemployment rate in many nations. For instance, most technological corporations apply high-tech automotive lines to produce their product, in which robots carry out most of the tasks. Consequently, there will be job cuts in their company and only keep high-skilled workforces to operate the complicated systems. In short, technological devices are used in many industries, bringing about the decline in workforces so the unemployed considerably rise. However, there are various factors that are responsible for unemployment. The first one is the oversupply of workers when many people only pursue a few trendy specializations. This results in the high competence in these fields whose demand is minimal. The enormous layoff wave in the information technology industry is the typical example of the surplus of labours. Because of the hurdles in COVID-19, these companies have laid off most of their low-skilled workers, which puts an alarming rate of unemployment. In addition, the second aspect is the absence of recruitment agencies. Because the authorities do not express much concern about these institutions, they marginally invest money on involved projects. Moreover, job agencies usually are non-profit corporations whose purpose is only to help the unemployed find suitable jobs. For this reason, only a few people can access these career institutions, which gives less opportunity to find occupations for job-seekers. For example, without these employment agencies, it is hard for graduated students who mainly do not have much experience to look for suitable companies to work and enhance their skills. As a consequence, the number of jobless students gradually increases yearly, which triggers issues for the government. In conclusion, some people think that advanced technology is blamed for unemployment. From my perspective, the jobless issue is affected by other factors such as the excess of labor supply and the lack of job agencies.
Women and men are commonly seen as having different strengths and weeknesses. Is it right to exclude men/ women from certain professions because of their gender? It is traditionally believed that there should be a clear gender distribution between suitable jobs, however, this is untrue in modern times in which males and females have the right to be equally represented in various jobs. In my opinion, gender equality must be strongly encouraged in either way. There are some good arguments stating there are some posts that should be mainly dominated by men or women as well as having all-men or all-women fields since both genders possess distinct abilities and characteristics. For instance, patients in hospitals are well appreciative of having female nurses take good care of them, while in manual labours like mining, and logging, males have a stronger presence than their counterparts. Nevertheless, women and men ought to be allowed greater freedom of choice, instead of being rounded by old-fashioned prejudice. It is well explained to be advantageous having males to take over female-predominated posts and vice versa. For a clearer illustration, if women become police officers, their creative thinking and deep understanding of the cases will help them find an appropriate strategy and tackle the situation easily. On the other hand, if there are male teachers, they probably have a better understanding of young boys’ needs and serve as good role models for them. In conclusion, it depends on different cases whether a job should have the full involvement of men or women or that they can choose according to their desire. However, to benefit the most from this development, it is important not to expect males and females to approach work in identical ways.
