Some students prefer to take a gap year between high school and university, to work or to travel. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
There has been much controversy about whether some students in recent years tend to take a year-long break after high school graduation that have more benefits and drawbacks. In my opinion, this trend is more disadvantageous.
On the one hand, it is understandable why some people think that taking a gap year is detrimental. One clear disadvantage of it is that it can lead to loss of confidence. The reason is because students can face a peer pressure, they always feel behind in terms of age and learning. Additionally, high school seniors can lose their momentum, finding it hard to continue. For instance, when they take a gap year that is too long, they do not have any motivation to push them come back, everything in front their eyes are spacious and they do not know how to begin with an intense school schedule. This drawback may pose a challenge for students who want to cultivate relevant job skills during the gap year. It is noticeable that most high school seniors graduate, there is a lack of work experience and professional qualifications, and they may end up doing low-paying jobs.
On the other hand, I believe there are stronger benefits to delaying tertiary education for a one year. One advantage is that it provides them with more experiences, life skills and soft skills. This is because gap-year affords a new graduated time to travel, immerse themselves in various cultures in the world, which helps them enrich their life experiences and hone practical skills. Such a benefit is especially important for identifying their interests and a suitable career path. The fact is that many schools in Vietnam do not offer workshops aimed at career orientation or attending vocational training courses. They find it challenging to explore their personalities, hobbies, and interests to make a good choice in just a few months. It is quite difficult for students when they need to balance their studies and their orientation.
In conclusion, while taking a gap year is not without certain benefits, I would contend that the given disadvantages do not make it a worthwhile path.

Hence, they desire to apply these meals to their diets. For example, the rate of obesity in children grows from strength to strength across the globe in light of advertising. Secondly, some influencers review new food, which is a stepping stone for young people’s curiosity in terms of this food. To illustrate, some meals become far-reaching, and citizens want to try eating them because some celebrities reviewed these meals.
There are some more persuasive arguments that family and friends direct youngsters' diet immediately through their traditional meals and time eating out together. Initially, when the youngsters were infants, they were likely to eat some meals through their parents. Therefore, they were familiar with these meals and could not change their taste. Take exchange students as an example, they invariably miss traditional food in their hometown, and they spend a huge amount of time on adapting new cultures. Secondly, people eat out with their friends who have common meals in restaurants or food courts. Gradually, they also establish eating habits. It is apparent that TV shows such as comedy or reality games greatly make their name for attracting watchers, which brings about the well-known statement for celebrities. By contrast, because of its profound knowledge, politics might not deem to be a heated debate to all subjects. Hence, reasonably, the less prevalent they get, the lower income they get.
On the other hand, although this development, at the moment, does not seem to leave any detrimental impacts on society, it might risk the upcoming era. Status of the politicians, in some ways, reflects the society. Therefore, the phenomenon of not being enthusiastic in this field might lead to an irreversible lack of highly evaluating the importance of it. For example, many people who are in the hope of higher living standards would tend to live in metropolises because of the development of better services and welfare. In recent years, in many countries, budget allocations for healthcare and infrastructure in large cities have been extended, leading to a better life for inhabitants. By contrast, counter-urbanization has also occurred for a long time, due to overpopulation in metropolises. Therefore, people have to choose the best place for them to settle in. For example, most future careers do not require a high level of physics or chemistry knowledge, unless one works in a field which directly involves these areas. Thus, unless a student wishes to pursue a university major and/or career in specific scientific subjects, he or she is unlikely to choose to continue with maths or science at high school or secondary level.
It is undoubted that the lack of interest and low participation in science disciplines exerts adverse impacts on society. This is because modern technology advancement and innovations have vastly been driven by passionate scientists without whom discoveries would not be made and life quality of humankind would not improve over the years. Addtionally, a vast number of criminal movies has widely published in recent years, so people have approached them effortlessly. Therefore, those movies have a dramatical impact on people’s action, which leads to their serious crimes such as robbing or killing. Another reason relates to the life pressure. It could be explained by the fact that people have mental health illnesses such as depression as being under pressure of occupation and money, which are two enormously common problems in today’s modern lives. This can drive to behavioral disorders, which causes the delusion between reality and imagination. Consequently, people are not feasible to be aware of what they are doing right or wrong, even might be doing some criminal behaviors.
There are two principle individuals having a responsibilty for tackling this problem. One’s selves are the initial human beings solving this problem. Since they should strengthen their mental and physical healthy by avoiding those detrimental influences such as watching serial killer or harshly violent movies, and gaining more knowledge in differentiating between right and wrong. The subsequent individuals who are reponsible to this is governments. As governments might not strictly censor in publishing movies, so some inadequate scenes such as exceedingly bloody or violent scenes are not controlled. This can be a significant impact on personal behaviors that causes numerous crimes. Consequently, governments have a responsibility in administrating those movies.

However, this line of reasoning is not sound because the widespread use of internet exposes people to foreign mores, mindsets and values regardless. This means that changes in different facets of life are inexorable, and a form of indoctrination would ensure if their authorities decided to take away their citizens chance to learn by deliberately restricting their access to the world. The corollary of this control would be the loss of critical thinking, which subsequently would have stultifying effects on the progress of society. Furthermore, since tourism is a lucrative industry that also employs lots of people, especially in the service sector, a ban on this industry would result in huge job and economic loss.
In conclusion, prohibiting tourist activities for the sake of local culture is an unwise proposal.
