Đề bài: Some people say that having more money and less free time is better than earning less money and having more free time. Do you agree or disagree? Bài làm: In this day and age, some people hold a firm belief that they would rather have more money but less free time than earn less money and have more time to relax. From my perspective, owing to various reasons contributing to this, I do agree with the first given point of view. The following paragraph will elaborate on my notion. Multiple reasons support my idea. First and foremost, money is considered the most crucial factor in ensuring the sustainable growth of people's lives. With the development of technology and the expansion of the world's population, the prices of indispensable goods and the cost of living are witnessing a significant increase. Due to the aforementioned fact, people are struggling to earn a living so having more money is the ultimate aim of almost everyone currently. They can work from nine to five with a view to earning more money to survive in such a competitive environment. In addition, people may appreciate having more free time to relax and indulge in their own interests. However, to the best of my knowledge, having more leisure time brings more numerous disadvantages than you may have expected. First of all, people can become lazy if they have more free time. Having a day to relax is a good way to detox your body but if you are just relaxing every day, you cannot do any beneficial activities to earn money or to develop yourself, leading to negative impacts on your future. Moreover, just imagine we have more money, one hour to boost energy is also enough. You can utilize your money on what you want, even to play games or to have a healthcare check. Therefore, despite having less free time, we can still have fun and enjoy life as meaningful as possible, as well as not wasting valuable time. In conclusion, having more money and less free time is said to be better than earning less money and having more free time. As I have mentioned above, I firmly believe that people should opt for having more money to be exposed to happiness even in short leisure time. Some people assert that the best source of news remain newspapers, while others prefer other media for learning the news. This essay will clarify both these views and explain why people have different opinions. On the one hand, the advantage of newspapers is quality of information, because the news are published in the newspaper is clearly verified. Moreover, the newspapers are written by experienced journalists who analyse carefully, so it is trusted and accepted. In contrast, in the Internet, there are full of fake and false information that confuses the community. In terms of form, the articles are also easy to access, without the user needing to understand about accessing information online. On the other hand, collecting the information via other media suits for the current technological period. Source of information through other media completely free, so people do not need to pay a fee, or only pay an insignificant fee. The amount of money is appreciable compared to the money which spend to buy the newspapers on a daily basis. Besides, information on the media has many ways of transmission such as images and videos which are more vivid and easier to receive than reading conventional newspapers. I believe that both perspective have its benefits. However, I am inclined to agree with newspapers because I think the quality is the most crucial criterion. In conclusion, both of these approaches to information have their advantages. Users should find the method that best suits to be most effective. The picture compares the layout of a library in 2001 and 2009. Overall, a wider variety of books were exhibited, and the library was also digitalised, providing more options for readers and visitors. In 2001, the library’s interior was relatively simple. As one entered the library, they would see a librarian’s desk and stairs in the right corner. Along the left side of the library were two long sections for self-help and history materials, while at the end of the library was the fiction category. In the central area, there were eight small square tables, on the right of which was a separate shelf for newspapers and periodicals. In 2009, apart from the librarian’s desk and stairs that remained unchanged, the library experienced significant changes. Two large shelves on the left were downsized, making space for more categories including history, kitchen, economics, and law. Fictional books were also relocated to this area, allowing the introduction of children’s books. Moreover, the small tables were replaced with four rectangular ones, while the space between these and the children’s books shelf was utilised for children. Finally, newspapers and periodicals were replaced with films and DVDs, in front of which were two newly added computers. The picture compares the layout of a library in 2001 and 2009. The pie chart depicts the amount of electrical unit which Australian and French generated by different kinds of fuel in two last specific years. In general, although the whole production of unit of electricity in Australia surpassed France in 1980, Australian lost their domain position in this field in two years later. During that time frame, nuclear power was experiencing a notable increase in its electricity production. While coal indicated an impressive jump in its electricity production from 50 to 130 units in Australia in only two years, that kind of fuel in France consistently remained its units, at 25. Additionally, in 2000, Australia only received 2 units from this creation by each of fuel sources which were natural gas and oil, similarly, France received the same amount from natural gas and hydro power. Furthermore, nuclear power was effectively utilized by French, which contributed to its significant rise in electricity generation at 111 units in 2000. In contrast, natural gas had stood at the same level as coal in this production, at 25 units before dropping down dramatically ,at approximately 23 units in following two years. Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective? ANSWER: These days, people also have their vehicles to serve travel needs and the vehicles need petrol to operate. Some individuals think that the best remedy to handle crowding traffic and pollution problems is increasing the price of petrol. In my point of view, I firmly think that increasing the price of petrol is not the most viable method. In this essay, I will explain my opinion and show some more effective measures. First of all, people know that most vehicles such as motorbikes, cars or trunks need petrol to operate and normally when using petrol, the vehicles will emit toxic carbon dioxide. Beside that, there are many electric vehicles which do not release toxic fumes into the environment. Therefore, these vehicles can be a good idea to use permanently, they do not pollute the environment. However, it does not mean that they could solve growing traffic because people still have to go out and join traffic when they use any vehicles. So, even increasing the price of petrol, people still can buy petrol at a more expensive price or switch to electric vehicles to save money and traffic is always growing with the development of human and technology. Beside increasing the price of petrol, there are many ways to deal with the problems of growing traffic and pollution. For instance, authorities should limit private vehicles, charge fees to enter the city center or limit the number of private vehicles on the road during rush hours. Moreover, encouraging people to use public transport to reduce vehicles on the road, or building more highways, roads to minimize traffic congestion in certain areas. To sum up, increasing the price of petrol is the best method to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. People can apply more effective measures above to handle these problems better. Question: Some people say in order to prevent illness and diseases, the government should focus on reducing environmental pollution and housing problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? In this day and age, the question of what we should do to prevent illness and diseases has sparked an ongoing debate. While I acknowledge that the government's focus on dealing with environmental pollution and housing problems can bring many positive outcomes, I hold the view that there is a need from both residents and the government to successfully reduce the rate of illness and diseases. On the one hand, some effective approaches done by the government including reducing the environmental pollution and accommodation issues can bring some benefits. Regarding the former, minimizing the level of environmental pollution plays a key factor to help prevent some pressing health issues. To clarify, some harmful emissions and waste from industrial activities or household usage can take a toll on the environment, easily leading to land and air pollution, which are anticipated as factors lead to a lot of health problems. As a result, if the government introduces new policies relating to addressing the level of pollution, they can control the illness and diseases. Regarding the latter, dealing with some housing problems can be effective in preventing a lot of health issues. This is because many less-well off individuals struggle to rent or purchase a house or an apartment so that I have to live in areas, which are under the social standard. Therefore, they potentially have a high risk of being affected by some bad health conditions relating to respiration or cardiovascular. Consequently, when housing problems are addressed by the government, there will be some positive outcomes. On the other hand, to effectively avoid health issues and diseases, I hold the view that there is a participation of both individuals and the government. First of all, citizens should pay more attention to their health and gain knowledge about some diseases prevention. When they actively take care of themselve and learn how to deal with some adverse health conditions, they can lay the foundation for society in combating a lot of health issues. Secondly, the government should adopt new laws for manufacturers to ensure the quality of products. In the digital era, some big producers want to maximize their profits so that they are willing to produce a lot of food, which could include some poisons or preventatives. As a consequence, citizens' health are on the edge of risks but the reverse case will be seen when the government takes actions. In conclusion, while I acknowledge that focusing on reducing the level of environmental pollution and housing issues can significantly effective to prevent illness and diseases, I concede there is a need for the join of both individuals and the government and some new policies should be implemented to completely avoid health problems. Question: Some people say in order to prevent illness and diseases, the government should focus on reducing environmental pollution and housing problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Nowadays, technology is increasingly being used to monitor what people are saying and doing (for example) through cellphone tracking and security cameras). In many cases, the people being monitored are unaware that this is happening. Do you think the advantage of this the development outweigh the disadvantages? Sample In the present era, humans are being tracked by high-quality digital equipment. In many situations, some individuals are not aware of this. In my point of view, these improvements may have some downsides however I strongly believe they have more positive impacts. First of all, technology updates monitoring systems by boosting camera systems therefore, they can survive a lot of human’s life. By installing these hidden cameras in public places, they give a helping hand to detectives and polices in order to catch robbers and murders by replaying the recorded videos from crime scenes and easily catch thieves. For instance, For instance, in South Korea, there is the rule to install CCTV in every public location like streets, cafes, shopping malls which they put a key to press when a person feels in danger and alert the area’s police station, as can be seen, this invention makes South Korea the top ten safest place in the world. On the other hand, there are several drawbacks which we seriously pay attention. Firstly, governments must respect individual's privacy. Whenever they monitored people, it can reveal some secret information, more specifically for political individuals, about people's lifestyles. It can be fueled by the misuse and abuse of people's secrets. As result countries will be faced with international issues if some information such as political's communications reveal. Additionally, Sensitive documents and personal information are uploaded on the internet such as bank records, credit, and debit card details, property documents, personal photos, and videos, so on. These can be easily accessed by hackers and criminals who misuse them by blackmailing their targets for money extortion. To sum up, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages as constant surveillance provides a safety net. There is also the danger of confidential information being leaked by cybercriminals. Nowadays, technology is increasingly being used to monitor what people are saying and doing (for example) through cellphone tracking and security cameras). A growing number of individuals today express concern over the equality of male and female students in universities in terms of each subject. To my knowledge, I strongly agree that balanced numbers of students with both genders in every subject should be acquired because of its powerfully effective factors during student's learning process. The gender balance in educational environment resulting from clever policies can create positivity and mutual respect not only among students but also among lecturers. That is because there is no existence of a sex barrier compared this class to another one which used to be a hard-solving problem. For example, competing in physical subjects could be a huge advantage of a class that contains many male students compared to the less ones while having outstanding numbers of female student during art competitions could provide favorable position. Hence, shutting down unbalance of numbers of male and female students could be the path to bring the equity and fairness. Furthermore, there is a meaningful message through applying equility of the sexes in every subject that universities can convey. Students can gain deeply insight and their own points of view in the future. Regarding there is no unequality in school environment that can truely empower them about a thought they do everything in this life whatever your gender is. For the reasons mentioned above, I believe that blurring the gender boudary of students in every subject should be accepted widely. In some nations , students live with their familiy during their university years while in other nations , students move away from their family for their education. From my perspective , despite presenting several certain drawbacks , advantages of living away from home are more significant to individuals. On the one hand , people who being away from their family are likely to endure mental health issues.Physical distance discourages them from confiding their troubles with their families and loved ones. They tend to keep their difficulties without sharing with others to just ease their families’worries while loved ones at home remaind unaware. This can get worse in case of introverted person who tend to distance themself from new friends. Consequently, they encounter the feelings of homesickness and depression that negative impact on academic results in university. Nevertheless , the benefits of living independently while attending university are more substainable. To begin with , living far away from their family helps foster personal growth that allows individuals to develop independence , self-reliance and personal responsibility .They learn to develop valuable life skills , including manage finances , compeleting household responsibilities such as cooking or laudry , organizing their time effectively without any family’s support. These skills are necessary for their future professional and personal lives. What children do in their leisure time have transmitted since technical advances. The writer of this essay believe that the drawbacks of health issues and distracting from study greatly outweigh the entertainment needs. One of the focal disadvantages of spending free time using technology would impact directly on children’s health. In other words, the children would have little to no time directly on children's heath. In other words, the children would have little to no time focus on a healthy diet then easily leading to obesity Further obesity can increase the risk of heart disease and other related health issues. Take US is an example where the rate of obese children intensifying which accounts for 10% of the population. Another negative aspect of using new technological products is lacking of concentration on school Those who spend mostly time on technology are just think about games on the internet which interested them. Therefore these would divert children attention away from studying. As a result there would be more addicted children. Conversely, children could use modern technologies to entertain them after school. To explain more details, children often experience boredom and fatigue when only exposed to academic subjects that do not allow for much mental recreation Nevertheless, instead of using technology children can take more outdoor activities. Consequently they could gain more sociable skills with their peers rather than play games by their own. Taking all points into account, the possible impact of medical condition and school directing is outweighed the benefits of entertainment. TECHNOLOGY Mobile phone and the internet could have many benefits for old people. However, this age group uses technology the least. What are the benefits for old people of using mobile phones and the internet? How can we encourage them to use this new technology? In light of the proliferation of technology, there is no denying that cell phones and the Internet can exert positive influences on people's lives, especially the elderly's. Nevertheless, the use of technology is considered the least among this age bracket. In this essay, I will analyze several potential advantages for old people using mobile phones and the Internet before suggesting some strategies to boost the number of old technology users. Unequivocally, the use of cell phones and the Internet is beneficial for the elderly for a host of reasons. First and foremost, high-tech gadgets facilitate instantaneous communication, regardless of geographical boundaries, which is significantly more convenient compared to the past when hand-written letters used to be prevalent. In addition to this, with the abundance free-of-charge online information, mobile phones with Internet connection assist in enriching one's knowledge. This could result in substantial savings from not purchasing newspapers and books. Numerous actions can be taken to embolden more old individuals to use mobile phones and the Internet, both by the government and family members. Regarding the former, public campaigns promoting the use of technological devices should be intensified. Once the elderly are better aware of such new technology and its pros, they are more inclined to experimenting with it. In terms of the latter, the younger generations in the family should offer guidance and support related to any issues or difficulties arising from technology usage to the older ones, hence leading to an increase in the number of old technology users maintaining the habit of utilizing it. The graph below shows the percentage of Australian exports to four countries from 1990 to 2012. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. ------------------------------- The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australian products imported by four distinct nations – Japan, the US, China, and India – during the period from 1990 to 2012. It is clear that there were considerable upward trends in the proportion of Australian exports to two countries China and India, while the two remaining countries saw a remarkable fall over the given period. China has become the main country that imports Australian goods in the last few years. Starting at nearly 25% in 1990, Japan imported dramatically more from Australia than the remaining countries. This figure then dropped continuously to the lowest point of around 18% before staying static at the end of the given period. A similar downward trend was observed in the US, it peaked at just over 10% then declined gradually to about 8% in 1995. Despite an increase to a high of approximately 13% in 2000, the figure then fell sharply and took up just under 5% in 2012. By contrast, Australian exports to China witnessed a gradual increase from only 3% in 1990 to 13% in 2007 before surging rapidly to around 28% in 2012, surpassing Japan to become Australia’s largest goods export market. India had a similar pattern, but it went up at a lower rate. The starting point at the lowest position was just merely 1% in 1990, the figure then grew gradually and reached the highest point at about 8% in 2008. Subsequently, a slight drop occurred, finishing at nearly 5% at the end of the period. The graph below shows the percentage of Australian exports to four countries from 1990 to 2012.
