Some people think that the best way to reduce traffic congestion in cities is to increase the price of petrol. To what extent do you agree or disagree? The argument of whether the best way to deal with traffic jams in cities is increasing the petrol taxes has sparked a heated debate. While some individuals believe that higher petrol’s price cannot completely tackle the issue, others hold opposing view. From my perspective, I strongly disagree with this suggestion and this essay will outline the reason behind. Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that increasing the price of petrol would have a negative impact on the economy and the environment. In other words, higher petrol prices would lead to increased transportation costs for businesses, resulting in higher prices for consumers. This, in turn, could lead to reduced consumer spending, potentially impacting economic growth. Additionally, higher petrol prices would encourage more fuel consumption, which in itself would contribute to greater greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating global warming and climate change. In brief, the idea of raising petrol prices could be detrimental in many aspects, including the economy and the environment It is not to say that increasing the cost of petrol might not benefit the problems in some aspects, however, it could not completely tackle the traffic congestion. There are numerous factors that contribute to the frequent traffic jams nowadays like the availability and quality of public transport, the routes and other alternatives. In detail, in many cities, public transport is overcrowded and unreliable as it involves many risks in punctuality and criminal issues, making it unattractive for commuters. For instance, there are crimes such as pickpocketing or even sexual harassment which could easily be caught on public transport that make people more and more cautious about using this means of transport. Moreover, other alternatives, such as cycling, walking, may not be feasible or convenient due to long distances or in bad weather conditions. Therefore, people may still prefer to use their private vehicles, even if they have to pay more for petrol. In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the idea of increasing the petrol’s price to reduce congestion in cities as the disadvantages outweigh the advantages in many aspects like economy and environment. I think a better solution should be considered is to improve the public transport system and infrastructure to provide more incentives and subsidies for using public transport or other alternatives, and to raise awareness and education about the benefits of reducing car usage. Genetic engineering is an important issue in modern society. Some people think that it will improve people's lives in many ways. Others feel that it may be a threat to life on earth. Discuss both opinions and give your opinion? Answer: In the contemporary world, genetic engineering plays a crucial role and has been a hot topic of debate for recent years. While there are many beliefs that genetic engineering can promote human life, others argue that it will cause a risk to the earth. This essay will highlight several advantages of both viewpoints and explain how genetic engineering has a positive impact on human life. On the one hand, it is conspicuous that genetic engineering affects not only humans but also the ecosystem. In terms of humans, a variety of genetically modified foods are produced, which means the consumption of them increases significantly, causing numerous diseases. Those foods can lead to mutation in the human body that includes a reduction in immune system or antibiotic resistance. Regarding the ecosystem, because of manufacturing genetically modified plants for productivity, most food chains and species are affected, especially herbivores. Additionally, those animals are eaten by predators, leading to a negative effect to all the food chains, even humans who ingest these species. On the other hand, although there are many detrimental influences of genetic engineering, this field also has many contributions to the development of society. First of all, the more genetically modified foods are introduced, the more decline in food price could be. For example, the price of vegetables and fruits such as watermelon and dragon fruits in many countries has experienced a fall since genetic engineering introduced new achievements, which means the amount of money for food production could be reduced. In addition, most GM products have no negative impact on human's health. Regarding this, the food industry in Vietnam has gained recognition from the public because of genetically modified foods without detrimental effects. Moreover, by investigating more new species, genetic engineering can enhance the diversity of the ecosystem, even reduce the amount of species extinction. In conclusion, it is obvious that genetic engineering is indispensable, in spite of having several undesired impacts on human’s life. If more feasible solutions such as food security campaigns for manufacturers, this issue could be promoted. Genetic engineering is an important issue in modern society. TASK 2: Some people think that newspapers are the best way to get news. However, others believe that they can get news better through another media platform. Discuss both views and give your opinion Opinions are divided on whether newspapers or social media are the best form of information provision for people to catch up with the latest news. This essay is aiming to elucidate both notions before performing my own idea that people can rely on getting news through newspapers due to their truthfulness and longevity. To begin with, it is understandable why some contend that social networks can provide a great source of data for users. The primitive explanation is that readers can approach news from the perspectives of different authors on online platforms. In fact, information on social media can be posted by various sources, ranging from official organizations to personal ideas. This therefore brings people to explore numerous views as well as broadens their horizons in multiple aspects, besides data from monopoly companies producing newspapers. Another precious clarification is that news can be effortlessly observed when people solely use their technical devices. For instance, by using smartphones and searching the keywords on the Internet, a vast array of information pops up on screens, leading them to access news whenever they want. Consequently, reading news on social networking sites may bring a sense of convenience, which is considered to be a significant way to collect data. Despite the aforementioned arguments, there are some justifications that newspapers also represent as a principal way to obtain news. Commencing with this matter, newspapers confer readers with the ability to get trustworthy information from official businesses or governments. In fact, before publishing this kind of news, it is strictly censored by the authorities, so audiences cannot be lured into unreliable information. In comparison with online news, they rarely undergo censorship as most data is introduced by anonymous individuals, which creates a sense of doubt and incredibility. Besides, reading printed newspapers can be beneficial for developing a positive habit. This form of information transmission has maintained its position over a long period of time, and most older generations prefer to read on a daily basis. Moreover, this activity might enhance reading skills as well as promote a healthy lifestyle. To conclude, some hold the belief that online platforms can be a better way to give information compared to conventional newspapers. However, I am of the conviction that traditional news may be dominant and act as a great way to acquire data. TASK 2: Some people think that newspapers are the best way to get news. Personally, I partially agree with this view for many reasons and they will be discussed in the essay below. On the one hand, it is acceptable to increase the demand for complex pastime activities as many are beneficial for our health and performance in the workplace. To begin with, when a person has a high level of standard in their hobbies, they will receive enormous improvement. Several pastimes relating to sports activities are typical in this field, people are exposed to a wide range of difficulties when playing sports but after completing their target, they will benefit in both physical and mental health. Furthermore, the feeling of success benefits humans not only in their personal interests but also in their daily lives. To be more specific, when people are in an attempt to achieve their aims from the fundamental aspects such as hobbies, they will have encouragement to strive for a higher position in their work since they felt that they had gotten over themselves. On the other hand, the majority of humans maintaining any hobby is not trying to achieve a greater position, but for other fundamental purposes. Firstly, following personal interests requires a large amount of determination and dedication. It means that people have to invest time as well as money in it, art and photography are the most prevalent examples, which results in the ignorance of communicating in daily life. Therefore, enhancing the level of hobby will be an obstacle for residents to continue in their working fields. Besides that, people in this hectic life demand a balance between relaxation and work, and hobbies are one of the useful medications for them. A person nowadays needs a pastime activity which is less stressful and more accessible to a wide range of people, so it is unreasonable to cover them with the high level of their hobbies. In conclusion, deciding to increase the difficulty of hobbies depends mostly on each individual because it brings specific advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, I believe that the emphasis should be placed on the former one as it help to better people's living conditions and play a role in addressing global warming issue. On the one hand, trees help enhance citizens' living environment. It is common knowledge that trees produce a significant amount of oxygen for us to survive and contribute to combating heavy pollution in cities and improving air quality. As a result, health conditions of residents living in those places can be improved as the fresher air can alleviate the risk of suffering from serious respiratory diseases such as lung cancer or asthma. In addition, trees can mitigate the rate of mental issues in humans, especially those living in metropolitian cities and often experience higher levels of stress. It has been proven by many scientists that trees can bring people a sense of peace in mind, and people are likely to be more relaxed when surrounded by trees. On the other hand, trees can also make a contribution to tackle global warming crisis. As trees grow, they absorb and store the carbon dioxide emissions that are driving global heating. Moreover, their leaves also contribute to ultimately lower the temperature by filtering sun's heat and offer shade to vacant areas in towns or cities. Nowadays, there are many cosmopolitan cities all over the worlds, especially those in Europe are implementing this scheme in response to global climate crisis and almost all of them have been receiving remarkable benefits. In conclusion, it is my point of view that trees should be planted in some open spaces in urban areas to improve surrounding condition and mitigating global heating. Topic "Some people believe that university students should pay all costs of studies because university education only benefits themselves, not society as a whole. To what extent do you agree or disagree?" In light of the increasing number of high school graduates opting for tertiary education, one school of thought holds that students should pay tuition fees by themselves because university education only benefits the students, not society. However, in this essay I will challenge this thinking. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people believe that undergraduates who pursue higher education are the only beneficiary. Their key rationale is in favor of the notion that many college graduates are now immigrating to prosperous nations seeking better living conditions and a well-paid job, making little contributions to the development of their home countries. Thus, when the government pays their tuition fees, it will put a strain on the national coffers and tax-payers. However, this reasoning is flawed, as authorities in these less developed countries are making considerable efforts to keep talented graduates in their countries, offering higher salaries as well as many other benefits. On the other hand, I would contend that high school seniors who pursue tertiary education also make contributions to society. To begin with, graduates equipped with skills and knowledge will lead to a better educated workforce, generating higher quality products and the country’s economic growth on a grander scale. Vietnam perfectly exemplifies this, as in the 1950s when this country was crippled with war and poverty, little importance was put on education. But since Vietnam gained its independence and the government started incentivizing students to pursue higher levels of education by means of scholarship or student loans, this country has been recorded as one of the countries with fastest economic growth in Southeast Asia. Moreover, when an individual is well-educated, they will be able to get a job and be independent of government grants. Consequently, the government can allocate this money on other pressing issues such as run-down transportation or healthcare services. In conclusion, while there are justifications for advocating students to pay all costs of studies by themselves, I would contend that the government should help students pay some of their tuition fees to encourage them studying at university as this will benefit the students and society as a whole.
