Question: Some people think that newspapers are the best way to learn news. However, others believe that they can learn news better through other media. Discuss both views and give your opinion? As today’s technological proliferation, conventional newspapers are no longer the sole source of information, but news from the internet and some other social platforms. Despite arguments about whether newspapers or online news is the best way to help people stay informed, I maintain that both are the same only if individuals select a reputable origin. On the one hand, to most people around the world, namely the elderly, traditional newspapers seem more reliable than newer media information. This is because of its long-term existence before the emergence of the internet and most senior citizens are familiar with this type of reading, thus, they do not want to change to an uncertain source. Moreover, most printed news is written by professional journalists and it often undergoes a process of cautious checking, edition and censorship before publication. This enables citizens to be informed about accurate happenings around them. On the other hand, news coming from the internet somehow surpasses its traditional version to some certain extent. First, the rationale behind humans’ preference towards online newspapers is their speed, low cost and flexibility across a plethora of convenient platforms. For instance, people can obtain free information from Facebook, Instagram or other social websites at any time of the day without paying for daily newspapers and waiting for up-to-date news like the past. In addition, digital news offers more varied content compared to the conventional print which can incorporate high-quality videos, images, audios which is impossible on the fundamental news. As a result, it provides greater illustrative depictions and immense insights about the discussed problems. In conclusion, news in both offline and online platforms benefit readers a great range of information and none of them are less significant. However, from my perspective, individuals must also choose the right news source in order to not mislead deceiving information. Some people think that the best way to reduce traffic congestion in cities is to increase the price of petrol. To what extent do you agree or disagree? The argument of whether the best way to deal with traffic jams in cities is increasing the petrol taxes has sparked a heated debate. While some individuals believe that higher petrol’s price cannot completely tackle the issue, others hold opposing view. From my perspective, I strongly disagree with this suggestion and this essay will outline the reason behind. Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that increasing the price of petrol would have a negative impact on the economy and the environment. In other words, higher petrol prices would lead to increased transportation costs for businesses, resulting in higher prices for consumers. This, in turn, could lead to reduced consumer spending, potentially impacting economic growth. Additionally, higher petrol prices would encourage more fuel consumption, which in itself would contribute to greater greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating global warming and climate change. In brief, the idea of raising petrol prices could be detrimental in many aspects, including the economy and the environment It is not to say that increasing the cost of petrol might not benefit the problems in some aspects, however, it could not completely tackle the traffic congestion. There are numerous factors that contribute to the frequent traffic jams nowadays like the availability and quality of public transport, the routes and other alternatives. In detail, in many cities, public transport is overcrowded and unreliable as it involves many risks in punctuality and criminal issues, making it unattractive for commuters. For instance, there are crimes such as pickpocketing or even sexual harassment which could easily be caught on public transport that make people more and more cautious about using this means of transport. Moreover, other alternatives, such as cycling, walking, may not be feasible or convenient due to long distances or in bad weather conditions. Therefore, people may still prefer to use their private vehicles, even if they have to pay more for petrol. In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the idea of increasing the petrol’s price to reduce congestion in cities as the disadvantages outweigh the advantages in many aspects like economy and environment. I think a better solution should be considered is to improve the public transport system and infrastructure to provide more incentives and subsidies for using public transport or other alternatives, and to raise awareness and education about the benefits of reducing car usage. Genetic engineering is an important issue in modern society. Some people think that it will improve people's lives in many ways. Others feel that it may be a threat to life on earth. Discuss both opinions and give your opinion? Answer: In the contemporary world, genetic engineering plays a crucial role and has been a hot topic of debate for recent years. While there are many beliefs that genetic engineering can promote human life, others argue that it will cause a risk to the earth. This essay will highlight several advantages of both viewpoints and explain how genetic engineering has a positive impact on human life. On the one hand, it is conspicuous that genetic engineering affects not only humans but also the ecosystem. In terms of humans, a variety of genetically modified foods are produced, which means the consumption of them increases significantly, causing numerous diseases. Those foods can lead to mutation in the human body that includes a reduction in immune system or antibiotic resistance. Regarding the ecosystem, because of manufacturing genetically modified plants for productivity, most food chains and species are affected, especially herbivores. Additionally, those animals are eaten by predators, leading to a negative effect to all the food chains, even humans who ingest these species. On the other hand, although there are many detrimental influences of genetic engineering, this field also has many contributions to the development of society. First of all, the more genetically modified foods are introduced, the more decline in food price could be. For example, the price of vegetables and fruits such as watermelon and dragon fruits in many countries has experienced a fall since genetic engineering introduced new achievements, which means the amount of money for food production could be reduced. In addition, most GM products have no negative impact on human's health. Regarding this, the food industry in Vietnam has gained recognition from the public because of genetically modified foods without detrimental effects. Moreover, by investigating more new species, genetic engineering can enhance the diversity of the ecosystem, even reduce the amount of species extinction. In conclusion, it is obvious that genetic engineering is indispensable, in spite of having several undesired impacts on human’s life. If more feasible solutions such as food security campaigns for manufacturers, this issue could be promoted. Genetic engineering is an important issue in modern society. TASK 2: Some people think that newspapers are the best way to get news. However, others believe that they can get news better through another media platform. Discuss both views and give your opinion Opinions are divided on whether newspapers or social media are the best form of information provision for people to catch up with the latest news. This essay is aiming to elucidate both notions before performing my own idea that people can rely on getting news through newspapers due to their truthfulness and longevity. To begin with, it is understandable why some contend that social networks can provide a great source of data for users. The primitive explanation is that readers can approach news from the perspectives of different authors on online platforms. In fact, information on social media can be posted by various sources, ranging from official organizations to personal ideas. This therefore brings people to explore numerous views as well as broadens their horizons in multiple aspects, besides data from monopoly companies producing newspapers. Another precious clarification is that news can be effortlessly observed when people solely use their technical devices. For instance, by using smartphones and searching the keywords on the Internet, a vast array of information pops up on screens, leading them to access news whenever they want. Consequently, reading news on social networking sites may bring a sense of convenience, which is considered to be a significant way to collect data. Despite the aforementioned arguments, there are some justifications that newspapers also represent as a principal way to obtain news. Commencing with this matter, newspapers confer readers with the ability to get trustworthy information from official businesses or governments. In fact, before publishing this kind of news, it is strictly censored by the authorities, so audiences cannot be lured into unreliable information. In comparison with online news, they rarely undergo censorship as most data is introduced by anonymous individuals, which creates a sense of doubt and incredibility. Besides, reading printed newspapers can be beneficial for developing a positive habit. This form of information transmission has maintained its position over a long period of time, and most older generations prefer to read on a daily basis. Moreover, this activity might enhance reading skills as well as promote a healthy lifestyle. To conclude, some hold the belief that online platforms can be a better way to give information compared to conventional newspapers.
