The given pictures illustrate the proposed future development for an industrial zone of Norbiton. Overall, it is predicted that the entire site will be turned into a residential area with the addition of public facilities. As for replacements, all factories alongside the road linking to the roundabout will be demolished to make places for residential accommodations, while the factory at the end of that road will be converted into a new school. Similarly, the industrial plants around the roundabout will be replaced by two new roads, one leading to three housing areas in the southeast and the other will run past the river through the bridge to the accommodations in the north, whereas the factory in the southwest of the roundabout will be substituted by shops. When it comes to new appearances, a playground is planned to be built between two housing areas near the river, providing a recreational space for students. Additionally, a small roundabout will be constructed at the T-junction where the southern road meets the main roundabout, which will facilitate easier access to a new medical centre situated between the two roundabouts. Finally, the farmland in the northern part of the site will be reduced to accommodate a new housing development. The graph below shows the percentage of people by age group visiting the cinema at least once per month in one particular country between 1978 and 2008
The given line graph illustrates the proportion of people in four different age groups attending the cinema at least once a month in a country over a 30-year period , starting from 1978. Overall , the percentage of people going to the cinema aged 14-24 and 25-34 declined throughout the period ,whereas it increased for those over 35 years old . Despite the decline , the proportion of individuals in the two younger age groups remained higher compared to the older groups. The proportion of people in 14 to 24 years old fluctuated between 90% and 85% over the timeframe and ended 85%. Meanwhile , those in 25-34 age group witnessed a sharp decrease from 80% to under 60% between 1978 and 1988 , before a resurgence to the 1978’s levels , then it remained stable for 5 years and dropped slightly by 5% afterwards . In regard to those aged 35 to 49 visiting the cinema , the figure decreased from 60% to 50% in 1988 , yet , dramatically surged to 70% after 10 years , followed by a slight drop by nearly 3% in 2008 . The percentage of those over 50 years old followed the similar pattern from 1978 and 1998 , with a sink from around 40% to 30% then soared to 50% in 1998 , however , it had a minor rise by about 2% at the end . Task 2: Many countries have the same shops and products. Some consider it a positive development, whereas others consider it negative.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. It is believed that having the same shops and products in many countries is a positive development, whereas others consider it negative. In this essay, both views will be discussed, before a personal stance is taken on the matter, adjusting that this increase in similar shops and products in many countries is a positive development. On the one hand, having the same shops and products in many countries is considered a negative trend. This development can put these countries under pressure to cope with cultural erosion. Many local shops and products are replaced by international chains; hence, countries’ unique cultures and traditions might be negatively affected. Furthermore, this trend can also lead to a competitive market, forcing the local small shops and companies to release attractive goods to avoid the worst consequence namely bankruptcy. For instance, international products are more ubiquitous, therefore many citizens tend to purchase them due to being manufactured by a prestigious company instead of local products with equivalent quality. Despite those disadvantages mentioned above, I believe this is a positive development. A practical argument in support of increasing the same shops and products has to do with the fact that countries’ economic prosperity can be fostered. Suppose many countries have the same shops and products in the sense that there is a cross-border partnership between them. Consequently, these countries might conduct global trade more effectively. Moreover, this phenomenon can also result in reducing low employment rates in countries due to lacking of employees to work at their shops and produce various products. We need not look further than the case of Nike, since its employers expanded their markets to Vietnam, they have hired many Vietnamese people to work at their shops in many large shopping malls such as Aeon Mall and VanHanh Mall. In conclusion, while having the same shops and products in countries can lead to cultural erosion, if not to say thriving competitive market, I believe this is a positive trend due to boosting economic growth and reducing low employment rates. In my view, if this trend is maintained, it can ensure the long-term well-being of humans and society. Task 2: Many countries have the same shops and products. Task 2: Nowadays people use bicycles less as a form of transport. Why is this the case? What can we do to encourage people to use bicycles more? In contemporary society, it is believed that fewer people use bicycles as a form of transport. From my perspective, this trend can be attributed to several factors and numerous measures should be implemented to encourage cycling. The current trend is that people use bicycles less for two main reasons. Firstly, using bicycles can sometimes cause awkward situations. This is because when commuters arrive at work by bike, they may be covered in sweat and get unpleasant smells, while their workplaces rarely provide shower facilities. As a result, they may feel embarrassed when working with colleagues. Secondly, commuting by bicycle is occasionally inconvenient. Due to urban sprawl, people nowadays tend to live far away from their schools or workplaces, therefore unless they get up early, they risk arriving late. Moreover, we can solely ride bikes by ourselves; hence, driving a car is more effective for those who have family. Several solutions can be implemented to promote cycling. One approach is for companies to provide cleaning facilities that allow their employees to clean after cycling. Secondly, healthcare organizations should focus on educational programs that can raise public awareness about the various benefits of cycling, such as reducing health problems. Last but not least, constructing more affordable apartments or houses near schools and companies will lead to an increase in the number of residents, making cycling a viable option. In conclusion, people use bicycles less as a form of transportation due to not only causing embarrassing situations but also inconvenience. However, to encourage more people to use bicycles in traveling, providing cleaning facilities, performing educational programs, and offering buildings and houses near workplaces, may be effective proposals. With these implementations, I believe we can significantly increase bicycle usage. task 2: At the present time, the population of some countries includes a relatively large number of young adults, compared with the number of older people. Do the advantages of this situation outweigh the disadvantages? Nowadays, the number of young adults in many countries is larger than that of older people. This writing would argue that the drawbacks of this trend are more significant than the benefits. One benefit of having a large number of young adults is that it can promote economic development. When there is a larger working-age population, these individuals can potentially increase productivity and efficiency. Their contribution to the workforce can lead to the creation of more goods and services, thereby boosting economic output. Another positive aspect of having a large number of young adults is that it enhances the quality of labor. Young adults often pursue higher education and vocational training, leading to a more skilled and educated workforce. This can attract businesses looking for qualified employees However, the advantages above pale in comparison with the disadvantages. Firstly, it can apply pressure to many metropolises. Some young individuals migrate to urban areas to seek better job opportunities, so this can put pressure on the environment. For example, a metropolis like Hanoi has become one of the most polluted cities in the world. Another negative is that it can increase the crime rate. As the population grows, the number of job seekers exceeds the number of available positions. This can make young adults struggle with financial instability and increased frustration. In some cases, individuals seek illegal jobs to have alternative means to support themselves or cope with economic pressures. In conclusion, the demerits of this trend certainly surpass its merits. Not only does having a large number of young adults apply pressure to many metropolises, but it may increase in unemployment rate. task 2: At the present time, the population of some countries includes a relatively large number of young adults, compared with the number of older people. Many people argue that producers and supermarkets curtail the amount of packaging of goods, while others suppose customer role should reduce spending on packaging. From my perspective, this problem necessitates a collective effort from both the supply and demand sides. On the one hand, it is reasonable to replace the responsibility on manufacturers and supermarkets to minimize packaging. This is mainly because they use redundant packaging materials in mass production. They tend to use virgin materials for such a process to reduce manufacturing overheads, which results in innumerable landfills that are non-biodegradable. These situations depend on producers and supermarkets adopting environmental exercises in order to rectify this problem. On the other hand, customers also play a crucial role in reducing packaging by cutting down shopping frequency. The behavioral customers are important measures of businesses that are unwilling to adopt eco-friendly packaging, which adversely affects the visually appealing products through sale figures. Therefore, if customers convert to buying green packaging, retailers, and manufacturers will be pressured into packaging policies. For example, many coffee shops use friendly products with the environment instead of using non-biodegradable packaging, this is the correct decision to attract customers and protect the environment In conclusion, both producers and customers should need to share the responsibility of fighting with plastic issues caused by packaged products. Some people think that manufacturers and shopping malls should sell fewer packaged products while others argue that people have the responsibility to buy products with less packaging. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. In recent years, the ever-growing issue of excessive packaging has sparked debate regarding responsibility. Some contend that manufacturers and retail outlets have the responsibility to provide items with minimal packaging, whereas others believe that the onus is on customers to make informed choices. This essay will discuss both viewpoints and argue that both parties should take responsibility for reducing packaging waste. On the one hand, major retailers and producers are responsible for producing products' packaging, therefore, they are supposed to take the initiative in cutting it down. In terms of manufacturers, they could simplify their packaging. Specifically, they can utilize innovative packaging designs that use less materials and implement more sustainable practices by using environmentally friendly materials. Supermarkets can opt for products with minimal packaging or packaging made from sustainable materials. For instance, there has been a significant change in the packaging at the deli counter in some supermarkets. Styrofoam boxes have been replaced by sugarcane boxes, which protect not only the environment but also consumers' health. The product is made from 100% bagasse, can stand high temperatures, and disintegrate easily within a few weeks. In this way, businesses can set the standard and take the lead in reducing packaging waste. On the other hand, consumers also have a crucial role to play in reducing packaging waste. By this I mean, by choosing products with minimal packaging and boycotting excessively packaged items, customers can influence companies to adopt more sustainable practices to boost the sales volume. However, consumers should be aware of “greenwashing” , where companies make misleading claims about the environmental benefits of their products. Moreover, individuals should opt for biodegradable or reusable bags, which would remarkably reduce the amount of plastic waste. As a result, customers could drive positive changes in packaging practices." In conclusion, the effectiveness of reducing packaging waste hinges on a cooperative effort between manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. A shared sense of responsibility and collaborative action are paramount in overcoming critical environmental issues posed by excessive packaging. Some people think that manufacturers and shopping malls should sell fewer packaged products while others argue that people have the responsibility to buy products with less packaging. Task 2: It’s generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for music and sport, and others are not. However, it’s sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician. Discuss both views and give your opinion It is believed that some children have inborn abilities since they are born, for instance, for music and sport, and others are not. Meanwhile, some people argue that any child can be nurtured to become talented in sports and music. This essay will discuss both views before concluding that children need both nature and nurture to become talented in sports and music. On one hand, some argue that talents in sports and music are innate and evident from a young age. Children born into families with a tradition of excellence in these areas may inherit and demonstrate their abilities early on. For instance, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, coming from a musically gifted family, exhibited remarkable talent from a very young age. By the time he was five, he was already composing and performing music, illustrating the potential for inherent talent to manifest early. On the other hand, there is a strong belief that with the right guidance, practice, and perseverance, any child can achieve success in music and sports. Many notable artists and athletes who did not initially exhibit extraordinary talent have reached the pinnacle of their fields through dedicated effort. Serena Williams, for example, became one of the greatest female tennis players of all time through countless hours of training and overcoming injuries, demonstrating that relentless hard work and determination can lead to exceptional success. Finally, in my opinion, both nature and nurture have important roles to play in success in music and sport. Natural talent can provide an initial advantage, but it is not the sole determinant of success. The role of environment, practice, and persistence cannot be overstated. Even those with less innate ability can achieve high levels of proficiency with dedicated effort and the right support. More people put their personal information online (address, telephone numbers...) for everyday activities such as socializing on social networks or banking. Do you think it is a positive or negative development? It is not a stretch to say that updating people's private information, including residential addresses and mobile phone numbers on the online platform, helps them with specific purposes like communication and conducting bank transactions, which is very common in modern society. From my perspective, it is significantly more disadvantageous than advantageous. On the one hand, one school of thought holds that disclosing personal information in online interactions for routine activities can yield multiple benefits. The primary reason behind this thinking is that it would be more convenient to communicate and keep in touch with friends and family across the globe regardless of geographical distance, as a key to improving relationships and creating a more connected social network. Additionally, it not only provides easy access to banking services and facilities for financial management, saving time and effort for physical visits to banks, but also allows individuals to monitor their accounts, easily pay the bills, and make transactions that enhance financial control. Notwithstanding the arguments above, its drawbacks are much bigger. Firstly, user privacy can be infringed upon, and individuals can become victims of identity theft by cybercrimes using this data for fraudulent purposes through intrusive marketing practices and targeted advertising, resulting in financial losses and reputation harm. Secondly, it is difficult to stop the spread of personal data, leading to potential long-term invasions and negatively impacting one's future opportunities and security. Since sensitive information can be leaked to online platforms, affecting job prospects, personal social circles, and social standing. In conclusion, the trend of proactive publicity of personal details accessible in the virtual world can cultivate multiple risks and vulnerabilities, surpassing the convenience it offers. Therefore, considering its potential hazards against the benefits is at the core of ensuring personal privacy is not compromised. Đề: Some people think that the main benefit of international cooperation is in the protection of the environment, while others believe that the main interest is in world business. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Opinions are divided on whether international cooperation primarily aims to protect the environment or to foster economic development. While there are compelling arguments for both sides, I believe that the key benefit of international cooperation lies in economic progression. From an environmental perspective, many believe that international cooperation is crucial for environmental protection because collective efforts can lead to significant positive impacts. For instance, over 130 countries have pledged to achieve carbon neutrality, which involves balancing carbon emissions with carbon absorption through carbon sinks. This ambitious goal is indeed beneficial; however, the majority of these countries are currently responsible for over 80% of global carbon dioxide emissions, and only a few have reached net-zero emissions. This indicates that while international efforts are a step in the right direction, they have not yet led to significant environmental changes. Additionally, the lack of feasible initiatives and the myriad of environmental issues faced by individual countries further complicate global efforts. On the other hand, the economic benefits of international cooperation are more apparent and immediate. Many countries join international organizations to gain economic advantages that promote growth. For example, European countries that joined the European Union benefit from the abolition of border controls, facilitating free movement and enhancing opportunities for work and travel across the continent. This not only boosts tourism but also improves the fluidity of energy, knowledge, and capital markets, ensuring maximum benefits from these resources. Moreover, international cooperation often leads to symbiotic economic relationships, such as tax reliefs on imports and exports, which significantly facilitate foreign trade. In conclusion, while it is understandable that some people prioritize environmental protection as the main benefit of international cooperation, I believe that the primary focus tends to be on economic growth. The tangible and immediate advantages of economic collaboration often outweigh the more challenging and slower progress in environmental initiatives. Mong thầy cô, mọi người chấm chữa bài này giúp em với ạ .In some countries ,there has been an increase in the number of parents who are choosing to educate their children themselves at home instead of sending them to school .Do the advantages of home education outweigh the disadvantages ?
In the previous era, parents frequently had tendacy to send their children to state-funded schools in order for young people to access to various kind of knowledge.Nonetheless, technological advancements in the comtemporary age have facilitating the posibility of home education.Despite some promient merits of this trend , I firmly believe that its major drawbacks surpass its benefits. On the one hand , the decision to educate children at home will partly obtain financial advantages . To be specific, modern education have applied some breakthroughs in teaching methods, which often leads to the presence of extra fee, thereby becoming the principal sector which contribute to the considerable rise of schools’ expenses. Another point of this situation is that private education allows the flexibility in teaching shedule ,which means students will freely study in lieu of the strict structure of school’s scheme Nevertheless, in spite of its notable benefits , I support the idea that the downsides of home education outweigh its merits . First and foremost , studying at home fosters children to work alone. Therefore, it has mitigated the ability to commnicate with others and enhance the capacity of the youth to suffer loneliness and depression. Not only that , but students are hardly gained opportunities to form relationship with their peers. For instance , due to the remarkable drawbacks of home education , a significant number of pupils were recorded to have the notion of depression in Ho Chi Minh city in 2010 . Fortunately , this circumstace has been minimized by changes in educating for children, which let them to join outdoor activities with their classmate in school To sum up , home education has its own disadvantages and advantages. However, the undeniable drawbacks of this trend overshadow its potential merits on the whole.
