Nowadays, not enough students choose science subjects in university in many countries. Why? Effects on society? It is observed that the number of students choosing science subjects as their major in tertiary education is lacking in many nations. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this phenomenon and some potential effects on society. Admittedly, there are two main factors contributing to this trend. First and foremost, science is not a popular field to have high-paid jobs after graduation as is the case with other majors. For instance, in Vietnam, business, information technology and social services are prominent sectors which offer learners the lucrative income, compared to the meager earnings of scientists. Secondly, science courses require a deeper understanding of natural principles as well as remembering complicated formulas. This, in turn, demands students have an intellectual ability to accumulate an amount of knowledge in different areas. As a result, there are fewer scientific students who can meet their requirements to graduate from higher education and have enough standard of qualifications in order to cope up with science jobs in the employment markets. However, the lack of scientific students in some parts of the world may have detrimental impacts on society. First, as fewer students pursue science in university, there is a shortage of experts in science jobs. This leads to the insufficient qualified staff which are highly demanded in the employment market. To illustrate, R&D activities in most companies play an essential part to adapt to new technologies. In addition, a few scientific students result in a decline in new research, studies and even breakthrough inventions. Therefore, this would pose a threat to the development of technology, medicines, and others that enhance the human's standard of living. In conclusion, being challenging to pursue and providing lower earnings are two major justifications why the students often have little or no science education. The consequence of this tendency ranges from a shortage of qualified employees in scientific fields to a shortage of new creations that lead to economic and development stagnation for society. Nowadays, not enough students choose science subjects in university in many countries. Why? Effects on society? It is observed that the number of students choosing science subjects as their major in... Read moreHoàng Trọng Sơn

The line graph illustrates the frequency of requests in person, by letter/email, and by telephone at a UK tourist office in the first 6 months of a given year. Overall, there was an increase in the number of requests in person and by telephone, with in-person requests witnessing the most dramatic rise. Information requests by letter and email declined and were by far the least frequent by the end of the time surveyed. In January, in-person information requests were lowest of all 3 categories at roughly 420. In contrast, written requests and telephone calls stood at approximately 770 and 900, respectively. By mid-March, in-person requests reached 800 and surpassed telephone calls, after which it saw a sharp growth, before ending the period at 1900. The figure of telephone requests fluctuated between 800 and 1000 in the first 4 months, and this figure rose sharply at 1600 in June. Email and letter requests fell marginally until March to 700, before a steep drop, and a levelling off at 400 from May to June. The line charts illustrate the average amount of spending per month of British parents on their children’s sports and how many children took part in three different sports, namely football, athletics, and swimming, from 2008 to 2014. Overall, there were increases in both average monthly expenses and the number of children participating in all three sports, with football consistently being the most popular over the period. Regarding parents’ spending, the figures experienced a steady increase throughout the period, starting from 20 pounds per month in 2008 to just over 30 pounds per month in 2014. As for sports participation, football remained relatively stable as the most played sport over the period, at about 8 million. However, the number of children who joined swimming was just below 2.5 million in the first year and nearly doubled to around 4 million in the final year. A similar change, but to a much larger extent, was recorded in the figures for athletics, which almost quintupled from shy of 1 million initially to approximately 5 million finally. Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? In recent years, some arguments state that there are numerous choices for individuals at the present, while others may hold the contrasting viewpoint. In my opinion, I absolutely agree with the first one, and my essay will elaborate further more on my perspective. In the educational field, students have an excessive number of options to pursue their efficient study. This is because the physical facilities have been enhanced to bring out more studying methods. For instance, 20 years ago, the primary approach to store the knowledge was writing down everything by book and pencil in the live class. However, in current, the creation of modern facilities such as digital products combines with electronic learning class, which expands the opportunities for many students to acquire knowledge more flexibly in a remote area or even abroad. Therefore, that element makes my view more sustainable. Furthermore, entertaining activities are another factor that gives individuals many selections. Due to the technological advancement and the contribution of creative scientists, various sorts of activities are innovated both indoors and outdoors. As indoor activities, people can choose metaverse games or mobile games to amuse in leisure time. Additionally, iceskating and waterpark are outside activities which are recently invented. Comparing to the past, the only choice was outdoor games with natural materials such as leaves and sticks. Consequently, this drastic change makes my point clearer. To conclude, I strongly agree that people gain more choices in their life such as studying methods and amusing activities. In the future, If the world keeps developing, human will have more options to improve their owned life. Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. Schools should focus on academic success and passing examinations. Skills such as cookery, dressmaking and woodwork should not be taught at school as it is better to learn these from family and friends. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? It is argued that schools should pay more attention to academic aspects rather than life skills which should be taught by friends and family. In my view, I completely disagree with this opinion because I suppose that they have equal important. On the one hand, it seems to me that academic success and passing examinations play a vital role in the development of students due to the enhancement of their job prospects. In other words, it provides to students with intensive knowledge helping them meet the requirement of labour market, as well as prepare for them to enter current modern work environments which are full of innovations and technology. With excellent academic records and achievements, they are more likely to land a lucrative job such as scientists or financial analysists. On the other hand, I also think that teaching life skills at schools is essential. Firstly, it gives the time and space to students for relaxation. After tense lessons, students tend to need recreational activities to release their stress, and skills such as cooking or dressing are the most suitable activities as they seem to not contain any professional knowledge and be inclinable to creativity, ecouraging students to do what they prefer. Secondly, it creates a possibility for students to explore themselves. Through skills lessons, students are able to discover their personalities and strengths, whereby improving them properly. In conclusion, thanks to the relaxed values and self-exploration that life skills brings to when they are taught at schools, I strongly believe that it should be concentrated equally to academic achievements and good performance in exams, which are regarded as a preparation for the future of students. Schools should focus on academic success and passing examinations. Đề bài: The table below shows daily oil production in 4 countries from 2000 to 2004. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and making comparisons where relevant Solve: The table illustrates how many barrels of oil were produced on a daily basis in Nigeria, Chad, Congo and Somalia between 2000 and 2004. Overall, it is clear that most of the countries witnessed increases in their production, with the exception of Congo, whose numbers dwindled significantly over the period shown. Additionally, Nigeria surpassed Congo to become a lead producer through the period. Looking first at Nigeria and Congo, which had higher quantities compared to other countries, standing at 205,000 barrels per day and 275,000 barrels per day, respectively. However, at the end of the period, both countries experienced an inverse trend, with the former increasing to 213,000 barrels despite many fluctuations between times and the latter decreasing modestly to 203,000 barrels per day. Turning to the remaining nations, in 2000, oil production in Somalia was shy, at only 5,000 barrels per day. After 4 years, this production soared tenfold to 50,000 barrels per day. A similar development was seen in the oil quantities of Chad, despite being the only one to start producing oil in 2003, with 8000 barrels per day, its production reached a peak at 50,000 barrels per day, matching with Somalia by the end of the period Đề bài: The table below shows daily oil production in 4 countries from 2000 to 2004. Schools should use films, computers and games instead of books. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is sometimes believed that books should be replaced by using film, games and computer divides in schools. This essay strongly agrees with this suggestion as now will be discussed. The first argument behind this is that using technology in the lesson of class can bring many positive effects for students. Chief among these is that students would not have to search particularly information in textbooks. This is because the high-tech appliance can help them to access information or websites like Google, Chrome, thereby allowing individuals to search for the right information you need faster than using a book. Evidence for this can be seen in Japan where, thanks to the introduction of such facilities, their children can save a lot of their time and spend this time learning many aspects of their lives. Another point worth mentioning is that children will get entertainment while doing study since many of them think that studying through books is boring. The explanation for this is that they can enjoy their favorite films or games when they feel bored during the lesson. This enjoyment encourages them to have a time to relax and chill, thereby helping them to reduce their stress and have a motivation to continue studying. If there is continued learning through textbooks, it makes individuals unexciting with their learning. This lack of excitement has a negative effect on education systems, which creates a not good workforce for the economic market. In conclusion, I totally agree that schools should use films, computers and games to help children in their study and life given the aforementioned arguments. Some people say it is more important to plant trees in the open spaces in towns and cities than to build more housing. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is believed that planting trees in the open spaces in towns and cities plays an important role compared to building more housing. While I accept that this is still essential to build more housing, I opine that planting trees should be prioritized. Admittedly, there are several explanations for the fact that building more housing might improve the quality of people's lives. It is because the constructions of social-housing might mitigate the increase of crime. It can be explained that without enough reasonably-priced homes, low-income workers might not afford to rent or live in accommodations which cost prohibitively. As a result, they tend to become homeless and more slums will gradually exist within the city where the government cannot control completely; therefore, the increase of crimes will pose a threat to other residents. However, authorities can take some steps to mitigate this problem by constructing some high-rise buildings containing numerous citizens; thus, there are more spaces to build other public facilities to serve the demand of people. On the other hand, I firmly hold the view that the government should concentrate on tree planting than housing construction. One of the advantages of this initiative is air pollution improvement. Planting more trees around the city might help absorb pollutants from factories and transportation and it also releases oxygen, creating a more purified atmosphere, which results in the positive effect of residents’ overall well-being. Moreover, trees planted in specific areas tend to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the city. Besides the pack of high-rise buildings and a crowd of transports along the streets, the presence of green spaces such as botanical gardens or parks will help cities become more harmonious among not only the citizens but also other visitors. In conclusion, while some people argue the authorities should give the priority for building housing, I firmly believe that it is advisable to place an importance on planting trees. Some people say it is more important to plant trees in the open spaces in towns and cities than to build more housing. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is believed that planting tree... Question: Some people believe teenagers should focus on all subjects equally, whereas other people think that they should concentrate on only those subjects that they find interesting and they are best at. Discuss both views and give your opinion? Some maintain that adolescents ought to have an equal learning for all subjects at school, while others believe that they should spend almost all their time pursuing some subjects, which make them interesting, or even excellent at those subjects. so I will discuss with this essay two reasons why I follow up the former. On the one hand, the idea of concentrating on a few subjects is the best choice for some reasons. This is explained by the fact that younger people gain in-depth experience and knowledge about related-subjects which they have been pursuing instantly. As a consequence, they become masters in some particular subjects and have a huge livelihood of chances to thoroughly understand those characteristics. For example, teenagers who are always learning some subjects which they feel enthusiastic about or are good at will get an accurate job following up their pathway. On the other hand, the balance of learning all subjects should be paid more attention by adolescents. This is because they have more chances to be open-minded about multi subjects. As a result, younger people feel confident to deal with most issues of many situations and communicate with other people. Moreover, they improve flexibility in different subjects by applying these subjects in others without their suitable subjects which they like. In conclusion, pursuing some subjects which make teenagers interested is a great choice due to having an in-depth knowledge, whereas I maintain that they should concentrate on all subjects since they can open their brain. I predicted that schools need to add multiple programmes in adolescents' curriculum to help them have general knowledge about those and better prepare them for the challenges in the future. Most people try to balance between their work and other parts of lives. Unfortunately, not many achieve this balance. Why? Solutions? It is sadly true that although people nowadays realise the importance of work-life balance, they could not achieve it. There are various reasons why this phenomenol happens, and some steps should be taken to mitigate it. On the one hand, there are two main factors which can be blamed for the failure in reaching the balance between work and life. Firstly, people is living under the influence of financial pressure. They tend to feel scared as they think of how difficult their lives are if they stop working, especially in current mordern era where almost everyting becomes extremely expensive. Therefore, they would strike for working with a huge workload regardless time for the purpose of earning as much money as possible, leading to the shortage of time spent for family and friends. Secondly, household responsibility aslo makes a significant contribution to this loss of balance. Taking Vietnam as an example, the majority of both people having children have to spend a considerable amount of their time on taking care of their children after they finish their work, and as a result, they lack relaxation. This issue must be solved. One of the most impactful methods is that modifying people's workstyle. They would consider multitasking. For example, they could make the most of the time used to wait for buses to check their email. Doing so will help them save a substantial amount of time in order to foster their bonds, which they are unable to do when they are tremendously busy. Another way is that family members should share domestic duties to lighten the burden they have to bear. If they did this practice successfully, they would have a chance to relax themselves. Thus, the work-life balance seems to become a possibility that everyone could gain. In conclusion, although the pressure of finance and domestic duties hinder people from achieving work-life balance, they could be resolved by multitasking and sharing the responsibility of household. Most people try to balance between their work and other parts of lives. Unfortunately, not many achieve this balance. Why? Solutions? Prompt: The graph below shows the production levels of main fuels in a European country from 1981 to 2000. The line chart illustrates how many tonnes of three major oil categories were produced in a European country between 1981 and 2000. Overall, there were increases in the amounts of petroleum and natural gas produced, while the opposite was true for those of coal over the period. Additionally, petroleum remained by far the highest in the production amounts, while natural gas was produced the least for most of the period. Looking first at petroleum, its amounts produced started at just under 100 tonnes, then inclined rapidly to about 130 tonnes in 1983 and levelled off until 1987, before falling to its initial level in 1989 and hitting the trough at around 90 tonnes in 1991. From here, it grew significantly and peaked at approximately 135 tonnes in 1998, followed by a gradual decline to end the period at 120 tonnes in 2000. Regarding coal, 80 tonnes of this type of fuel were produced in the first four years, after which the production plummeted to roughly 50 tonnes and quickly recovered to around 70 tonnes in the next two years. In the following years, the amount of coal produced went down progressively to end the period at 40 tonnes. Lastly, the natural gas produced amounts stabilized at 40 tonnes until 1991, with a subsequent dramatic rise to just over 80 tonnes in the final year, after overtaking the figures for coal at about 50 tonnes in 1997. The diagram shows the evolution of stone tools over 600 thousand years. Overall, it is clear that while the later example, which dates back to 0.8 million years ago, retained some features of its predecessor, which is believed to have been conceived 1.4 million years ago, it had become significantly more refined over time in terms of angularity and functionality. The first specimen, Tool A, is relatively flat when viewed from its side profile. An immediately noticeable attribute is that the front and the back do not match, with the latter having a markedly smaller surface area than the former. The shape of the tool is not defined, though there is a clear pointier end and a wider end. In terms of the surface, Tool A is still quite rough and uneven. Tool B is considerably more advanced than Tool A. It is still flat, but the shapes of the front and back align much better than they used to in the past. It has a more clearly defined teardrop shape, with a fat base that tapers aggressively towards a pointed tip. Tool B's surface is also much smoother than Tool A's, and the edge on the side is clearly sharper. The diagram shows the evolution of stone tools over 600 thousand years. The pie charts below show the size of classes in primary schools in four states in Australia in 2010 Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant The pie chart describes the capacity of classes in primary schools in four different states in Australia in 2010. Overall, it is evident that classes having 21-25 students was the most common among 4 types of classes with the exception of South Australia where classes under 20 students were used most. However, there are fewer classes having more than 30 students. In 2010, classes with 21-25 students in Australian Capital Territory accounted for 51%, which was half of all others, followed by those under 20 students with 38%. However, the class’s capacity of 26-30 students was nearly a quarter compared to the second most popular ones and there was a negligible proportion of classes containing more than 30 students. While the predominant and the least chosen class sizes in Western Australia were still 21-25 students and more than 30 students, at 42% and 5% respectively, an equal amount was seen in classes under 20 and 26-30 students, around 27%. Regarding other regions, a slight trend was seen in New South Wales where classes having 21-25 was the most popular, and it accompanied those with 26-30 students and fewer than 20 to record the same total proportions of Western Australia with the overall figure, ranging from 26% to 37%. In South Australia, the percentage of classes under 30 students ranged from 28% to 35%, while those with the maximum of 20 students occupied the highest percentage. The table below shows the salaries of secondary/high school teachers in 2009. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where relevant. The table describes how much money secondary/ high school teachers from five different countries earned in 2009. Overall, it is evident that while teachers in Luxembourg were the most well-paid, teachers from Denmark and Australia had the lowest salaries. However, Danish and Australian teachers spent much less time to reach the maximum salary compared to other countries. In 2009, newly-recruited teachers in Denmark earned 45,000 dollars, which was the second most well-paid teaching job, though the teaching salaries in Australia was the lowest, nearly three fifths of starting salaries and 6,000 lower than the maximum one in Denmark. Additionally, it took these teachers only 8 years to reach the peak of 54,000 dollars, followed by Australian teachers with 9 years Regarding other countries, starting with 80,000 dollars, teachers from Luxembourg received the most impressive salaries among five countries and there was a relatively similar amount of money for inexperienced teachers in Japan and Korea, at 34,000 and 30,000 respectively. While the following 15 years experienced a nearly twofold rise in the figure for teachers in Japan, the salaries from Luxembourg and Korean just saw a slight increase to 119,000 and 48,000 respectively. Despite being the most well-paid, people teaching in Luxembourg took up to 3 decades to reach the highest peak of salaries of 132,000 dollars, whereas Japanese and Korean teachers needed to work more than 4 to 7 years to receive the maximum money, at 86,000 and 62,000 dollars respectively. Writing task 2 :; Buying things on the Internet such as books, air tickets and groceries is becoming more and more popular. Do the advantages of shopping in this way outweigh the disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.
Today, shopping online like buying books, air tickets, or groceries is more and more accepted by people in the high-tech world than ever. In my opinion , this method has both advantages and disadvantages but I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks . Shopping online is associated with a few weak points . Firstly, people that usually shop online can be at risk of identity theft by hackers due to providing personal information for shops to buy items . Another one is not ensuring the quality of products. When we buy online , we can not interact and test products before these products are delivered at home . So it can lead to consumers dissatisfied with the quality or fit of items and waste a lot of money for items that are not suitable for them. Despite the discourse above, there is more persuasive evidence supporting why the advantages outweigh the disadvantages .First of all, shopping online is highly convenient . Many people today are very busy so they hardly have any time to buy things in stores . As a result , online shopping is suitable for them. When we need to buy some items , instead of going to the store and ordering it , now we can stay at home and buy everythings within a few mouse clicks . Furthermore , this method can help us save money . This is because when buying online, we can search and compare the prices of similar products from different ecommerce platforms .And therefore , we can choose and buy the cheaper and more suitable ones for shelf. Last but not least , it offers a wide range of products . If you don’t find the items that you need to buy in the stores , we can find them on online platforms which sell a variety of goods from a lot of factories , companies. In summary , despite the drawbacks ,this method outweighs the benefits . Today, shopping online like buying books, air tickets, or groceries is more and more accepted by people in the high-tech world than ever. This bar chart demonstrates the proportion of residents living in both owned and rented accommodation locating in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011. Overall, the total percentage of individuals residing in leased housing had the decreased trend during this period. However, the trend in another accommodation gradually increased at the same time. In particular, the peak statistic of households in rented home even surpassed the number in owned home. In term of the leased accommodation, the top percentage during this period accounted for nearly 80 percent in 1918. However, its number dramatically declined between 1953 and 2001, then reached the lowest statistic at about 30%. In particular, the proportion in both 1939 and 1953 seemed obviously unchanged. On the other hand, in the owned house, the number jumped from about 30% to nearly 70% just in 83 years after 1918. Especially, 1971 was the year that household in both accommodations was equal at 50 percent. Question: Some people want governments to spend money looking for other planets. Others, however, think this is a waste of public money when there are so many problems on earth. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. In this day and age, the question of whether government spending should be allocated to space exploration or other pressing issues has sparked an ongoing topic. While I acknowledge that space exploration brings many advantages in terms of scientific advancement and global collaboration, I hold the view that the government budget should be distributed to other social problems to respond to the development of society. On the one hand, allocating more government spending to search for outer-planet civilisation can bring two benefits in science advancement and global cooperation . First of all, this can play a catalyst to foster breakthroughs in various scientific realms and technology advancement, which are conducive to the development of humanity. For example, the launching of universal traveling can facilitate the introduction of state-of-the-art spacecrafts, leading to the long term development of stateline technologies. Moreover, this activity also serves as a diplomatic tool as many large companies or developed nations can share their insight and experience to others, enhancing the high level of global partnership and promoting responsibility and peace. On the other hand, I believe that many pressing issues should be distributed with much money from the government. To begin with, the authorities should consider investing a large amount of spend to mitigate some social difficulties, which affect human well-being such as poverty, low quality of the education or healthcare system. As a result, they will ensure the sustainable development of the country and create a well-rounded community. Furthermore, climate change and global warming are also significant concerns as these environmental problems are threatening people’s survival. Consequently, money should be spent on introducing the new policies relating to environment protection and promoting the generation of eco-friendly products by manufacturers. Therefore, these acts do not only improve the citizens' living and environment but also establish a solid background to foster others sector advancement. In conclusion, while I agree that investigating other planets has advantages for scientific breakthroughs and global unity, I concede that it is important for the government to appropriately allocate money to a lot of thorny problems since it directly affects human welfare and Earth existence. However, it is essential for a nation to strike a balance approach to ensure the well-rounded and long-term development. Question: Some people want governments to spend money looking for other planets. Others, however, think this is a waste of public money when there are so many problems on earth. Some say that because many people are living much longer, the age at which people retire from work should be raised considerably. To what extent do you agree or disagree? In modern times, human beings’ lifespan is continuously increasing. This has led to the question of whether the retirement age should go up simultaneously to balance this issue. However, I personally disagree with the idea of raising the age of retirement. On the one hand, proponents of this trend may claim that the need for a sufficient labor force is notable to maintain. Indeed, in order to boost the national economy, the country must possess ample employees to carry out numerous jobs, thus retaining old-age workers can be considered necessary. In addition, if humankind’s lifespan keeps soaring while the retirement age remains unchanged, it may require a handsome pension paid for workers. Consequently, the budget used for other purposes including facility renovations or purchasing up-to-date equipment may be insufficient. On the other hand, there are compelling rationales advocating the unchanged age of retirement. In terms of humanitarian, it can be noticed that workers spend more than half of their whole lives contributing to the national economy. Their sacrifice for their country’s prosperity is considerable, hence a long period with a rewarding pension can also be a validation for their hard work and dedication, as well as a budget for them to enjoy life after an industrious time. Another factor for this view lies in the continuously advancing technology. In fact, conveyors, robotics technology, and other autonomous machines gradually reduce the dependence of the labor force. Specifically, many stages in producing and regulating can be carried out by state-of-the-art technology with higher accuracy, productivity, and better timesaving. Therefore, the global economy may not be considerably affected when there is less involvement of the old-age labor force. In conclusion, while raising the retirement age can serve as a solution to the concern of increasing lifespan, I firmly advocate my viewpoints that without this measure, the humanitarian can be constantly upheld. Also, advanced technology has made the problem easier to encounter. Some say that because many people are living much longer, the age at which people retire from work should be raised considerably.
