Topic: Freshwater is a limited resource in certain regions of the world. Today, the escalating demand has transformed it into a global problem. What are the causes of increasing demand? What measures can governments and individuals take to respond to the problem? It is true that freshwater shortage has posed a formidable challenge to certain countries in the world. Undoubtedly due to the heightened demand for freshwater, the scarcity of this valuable resource has become an alarming global issue. This essay will identify the underlying reasons behind this phenomenon and then offer some feasible solutions to tackle the situation. Regarding the reasons for the increasing requirement for fresh water, population explosion is perhaps the most contributing factor. It is only natural that the inflated global population means higher demand for freshwater, which is essential for individuals’ personal use, agricultural and industrial activities. Another reason is that rapid industrialization has also compounded the graveness of this issue. For instance, millions of cars are being produced every year to meet the growing need, and a startling amount of water is required during the process. Various measures, nevertheless, can be adopted by governments, organizations, and individuals to mitigate this issue. The first feasible approach is that educational institutions and authoritative bodies should increase individuals’ knowledge about water depletion issue. For instance, they should launch more campaigns to raise people’s awareness of the severe consequences of wasting water and the importance of conserving this valuable natural source, thereby encouraging them to refrain from performing activities that result in insufficient freshwater resources. Additionally, the government should enact infrastructures for the purification of seawater into salt-free water, which may help to meet the growing requirement for freshwater. In conclusion, the unstoppable growth in population and industrialization may be responsible for water scarcity. However, steps can be taken by the government and competent authorities to alleviate this situation. Topic: Freshwater is a limited resource in certain regions of the world. The pie chart shows how the average household in Australia uses total energy while the table compares the electricity consumption of occupants number. Overall, the proportion of heating and cooling and water heating are the major of the energy use for different purposes. In addition, the number of people in the house is increasing, and energy consumption according to occupants number is declining. The percentage of heating and cooling accounts for 38% while a quarter of energy consumption is water heating. The proportion of fridges and freezers and lighting are the same, at 7%. The figure for standby power and cooking is at 3% and 4% respectively while the other applicances account for the remaining 16%. A single-person household consumes electricity from 5,000 to 6,000 Kilowatt-hours ( KWh) per person each year. A household with two people living together is slightly higher from 6.000 to 8.000 kWh per person and the third-person household uses electricity up to 10,000 KWh per person. Đề: The most important consideration when choosing any career or job is having a high income. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It has been suggested that people should consider money as a priority when seeking jobs or pursuing their profession. Despite this, I disagree that high salary is a key factor above all other concerns. To begin with, I strongly believe that people need stimulation in their working lives in order to trigger their interest and a sense of reward. It is undeniable that having a favourite and passionate job will lead to a happier working life. Very few of us can go through the entire career staying in a position in an industry that we feel purely bored of. For further explanation, motivation and passion act as potent shields against workplace stress and burden, fostering a positive and enthusiastic approach to work. Secondly, pursuing our dream career not only stimulate our dedication and greater efforts, but it also helps us achieve exceptional outcomes and good salary. Take Cristiano Ronaldo for example, despite his rough childhood, he has showcased a special aptitude for football since he was a child. Thanks to his remarkable talent and relentless effort he has dedicated to football, he has become a global renowned football star. What is more, he also reached the pinnacle of his career at a very young age, pursuing his burning passion with huge income. Having said that, a large number of people have to put high-salary as their first priority when choosing a job owing to financial burden in their family, They tend to work like robots without enthusiasm and motivation. Furthermore, the stressful workload combined with family burden are likely to upset them unless they are devoted and enthusiastic about their profession. Undoubtedly, this situation will have a bad impact on their well-being, cause long-term mental disorders such as anxiety and depression. For instance, millions of people have to meet psychologists annually due to overwork. Seriously, lots of individuals also attempt to suicide as they are hopeless at their work and personal life despite having a well-paid job. Hence, prioritising money when selecting a profession is not a wise decision. To conclude, good salary is crucial to human’s lives, however, it should not be the number one concern above all. In spite of financial benefits, it is not worth spending all the life time enduring the tiredness and unhappiness at the workplace purely for money. Question: Many people find it hard to balance their work with other parts of their lives. What are the reasons for this? How can this problem be overcome? It is true that many people assume keeping work-life balance is virtually impossible in recent years. This essay will first outline some underlying roots before suggesting some feasible solutions to mitigate such an imbalance. There are two primary reasons why many adults assume it is difficult to have a successful and promotional job and take after their family comprehensively at the same time. Firstly, in the modernized and industrialized revolution, a job with an attractive salary and energetic work environment requires a heavy workload and professional qualifications. Hence, in addition to devoting time at the workplace, people might spend night time to accumulate expertises and interpersonal skills to ensure job requirements. Secondly, ambitious people tend to completely focus on their work development, even work overtime to gain achievement and promotion in their careers. Such people could not have enough time for their family and personal enjoyment. Fortunately, several measures could be taken to prevent this problem. The first solution would be people should set a comfortable goal for their career. It is important to divide the career path into specific and apparent milestones, as unclear objectives make people take more time to implement. A second measure would be arranging work and life according to the priority order. Those who allocate time reasonably could attain positive results and suit with the timeline, thus they could shorten their working time and expand time for their other parts of life. In conclusion, it is clear that there are various reasons for unbalance between work and family life, and steps need to be taken to tackle this problem. Question: Walking is known to be beneficial for health and yet fewer and fewer people are walking these days. What are the reasons for this? What can be done to tackle this problem? It is true that the number of people still keeping walking habits has decreased a lot in recent years despite its health advantages. This essay will first outline some underlying roots before suggesting some feasible solutions to mitigate this issue. There are two primary reasons why people spend less time walking. One reason is that people are busy with their work and taking care of their family. For example, mostly people spend 8 hours at their workplace, then they might prepare the dinner and clean their house afterward. Furthermore, fast expanding and development in building infrastructure indirectly reduce space for pedestrians, that prevent them from walking and other exercises. For instance, many parks and pedestrian zones are destroyed and replaced by apartments, shopping malls and other real estate projects. Fortunately, several measures could be taken to prevent this problem. Firstly, people need to effectively manage their time and spend at least 30 minutes walking, even at pedestrian zones or gym offices. This helps workers to not only balance their life, but also improve both physical and mental health. Secondly, the government should allocate resources to implement fitness center construction projects. Park and walking roads need to be extended and upgraded to facilitate pedestrians living nearby. In conclusion, it is clear that there are various reasons for the reduction in walkers nowaday, and steps need to be taken to tackle this problem. Question: Students should be taught academic knowledge so that they can pass exams, and skills such as cooking or dressing should not be taught. To what extent do you agree/disagree? Many people believe that children merely need to focus on the school’s subjects instead of learning fundamental skills such as cooking or dressing. While I acknowledge the reasons behind this thinking, I would argue that soft skills classes should be encouraged along with academic knowledge. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people believe academic subjects are vital to students in many ways. The main reason is that concentrating on these subjects serves as desirable examination results. To many families, the children are supposed to be appreciative and proud when they get an excellent grade. Furthermore, a solid academic foundation helps students easily approach and absorb new expertises. For example, math subjects taught in high school are the basis to apply in financial and economic aspects afterward. Considering these, the idea of prioritizing academic subjects is justifiable. On the other hand, I am convinced that the government should invest more for life skills education. This is because these skills are supposed to be particularly essential to survive. For instance, the students that study far away from their family need to learn how to take care of themselves, prepare the dishes and pay the bills alike. Such skills help them minimize difficulty in their lives and save time to tackle daily issues. Therefore, students are able to relax and succeed in their work and study. In conclusion, while there are justifications that students need to attain good outcomes in their academic knowledge, I would contend that interpersonal skills offer not only paper certification but also real application. The chart shows the number of mobile phones and landlines per 100 people in selected countries. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information given. ESSAY: The given chart compares the proportion of cell phones and landlines per 100 users in seven selected countries in Europe and American regions. Overall, it can be clearly observed that Italy comes top in the number of mobile phones per 100 people, while in terms of landlines, the first place belongs to Denmark. In Canada, US and Denmark, there are more people using landlines than mobile phones. Specifically, the number of landlines is about 63 out of 100 people for Canada and just under 70 in 100 people for the US, which both exceed their mobile phone counterparts by practically 20 per 100 people. However, the difference between two sectors is less significant in Denmark, which is 88 phones in 100 users for landlines as opposed to 81 phones in every 100 people for mobile phones. By contrast, mobile phones are more popular in Germany, UK, Sweden and Italy. In particular, it is recorded that 90 out of 100 people in Italy own a mobile phone, approximately doubling the number of landline users. Meanwhile, the figure for mobile phones is merely ahead of that for landlines by a narrow margin in Germany, 70 phones for the former as against 60 phones for the latter. Additionally, while the statistic of customers using mobile phones in both the UK and Sweden accounts for around 88, the number of land phones in these nations is nearly 60 and 70 respectively. Topic: Some people say that it is impossible for a country to both be economically successful and have a clean environment? It is widely argued that a country cannot be able to achieve both economic success and have an environment devoid of contamination. While this thinking is valid to a certain extent, however, I personally disagree with this thinking for the reasons provided below. On the one hand, there are a host of compelling reasons. Notably, the advancements in technology offer viable solutions to mitigate the environment impact of economic activities, for example clean technology and sustainable practices which helps offset CO2 emissions from factories and promote resource efficiency. For instance, Sweden has invested in renewable energy aimes to reduce pollution and create new jobs (workforce in manufacturing, maintenance or installation), showcasing how economic growth can coexist harmoniously with environmental considerations. This acts as a precursor to not only a thriving economy but also a civilized society. On the other hand, another reason why I do not support this opinion. There is no denying the importance of raising awareness of environmental issues and environmental conservation. Having a clean environment is support directly to the economic benefits. On the society level, it is not only enhancing a goal of the country but also attract to investment globally and eco-tourism. For example, Vietnam has made significant progress in this regard by investing in renewable energy and implementing policies to reduce pollution. This has not only improved the country's environmental sustainability but has also attracted environmentally conscious investors and consumers, thereby boosting the economy. Last but not least, on the government and individual level, humans need to have a responsibility for not only environment but also society. Moreover, there are also some effective policies to simultaneously foster economic development while preserving a pollution-free society. In conclusion, I personally disagree again the idea that a country cannot have both economic success and a clean environment is not suitable. By following a clear example of countries like Sweden or Denmark, it becomes evident that these nations have effectively balanced economic growth with environmental preservation. This serves as a compelling example for other countries seeking sustainable development through parallel strategies. Task 2 Many men and women are making the decision to have children later in life. Why is this trend occurring? What are the impacts of this development on both family and society? With the hurly-burly and fast pace in this day and age, numerous couples have a tendency to give birth much later than the previous generations. This could be attributed to a number of factors and it could affect the human quality of life as well as the society. There are two main contributors to the shift away from birth planning among young people in recent years. One of the major issues related to this is that young individuals have recently been swamped with loads of deadlines and work, which makes them have less time to pay attention to having a baby in today’s society. A prime example of this is Korea, which has recorded a significant number of spouses exerting a great deal of time to get promotions and earn much money instead of having children in the contemporary era. More importantly, the significant investments in giving birth and raising children are regarded as worrying problems that are attributed to the spouse's thinking and schedules. This phenomenon might lead to specific influences on daily life. The most alarming problem for this is that it has adverse impacts on the country’s population causing the lack of workforce. A case in point is Japan where mainly jobs are performed by a group of people who are in middle age or about to retire so major Japanese companies are employing a young workforce from overseas. Another alarming influence is that if young couples made the decision to have children later in life, it would be harmful to the development of babies because of the fact that the human’s breeding function will be degraded year after year. In conclusion, there are many reasons behind this trend and the growing popularity of giving birth later in modern life has numerous negative implications for both individuals and society. Task 2 Many men and women are making the decision to have children later in life. Why is this trend occurring? What are the impacts of this development on both family and society? Đề: Some people believe that there should be a fixed punishment for each type of crime. Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment. Discuss both of these two views and give your own opinion. Bài viết của em: In current times, the global prevalence of crime remains a pressing concern. While a plethora of robberies and murders are emerging, several debates are being triggered about whether the government should have constant deterrents for each genre of offense and whether the personal background and motivation of individuals should also be considered. Despite many arguments on both sides, I may lean more toward the latter. On the one hand, fixed punishments can be recognized as fairness for criminals, as each lawbreaker is sentenced on the same scale and no controversies may be ignited. Besides, crime rates can be reduced significantly. Indeed, strict punishments, regardless of motive, can be imposed on them, invoking their fears and declining their possibility of committing illegal activities. The New York Times reported a substantial decrease in crime rates in America over the past few decades when stricter sentences were imposed, irrespective of the reasons behind them. On the other hand, I constantly advocate my belief that the government should be soft on crime if circumstances warrant it. For instance, an injury can result from self-defense. For example, when thieves break into people's houses, the owners may not control their behaviors while protecting themselves and their families, which can lead to severe harm or even death. Also, mental illness may be behind criminal behavior in some cases, they can be aggressive and have uncontrolled tendencies that may break the rules. According to Vietnamese laws, those suffering from mental illness that impairs their ability to perceive or control themselves are not subjected to criminal liability. In conclusion, while imposing harsh punishments may serve as a deterrent for lawbreakers, it is crucial to consider individuals' motives to uphold the country's humanity Đề: Some people believe that there should be a fixed punishment for each type of crime. ĐỀ BÀI: Hamburgers and pizzas may be convenient but they can also be unhealthy. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of fast food. BÀI LÀM: For some people who have hectic schedules find that fast food is convenient, however, it is unhealthy and not good if we eat too much. Fast food will have particular advantages and disadvantages depending on how much we eat it. In this essay, i will discuss both sides. With regard to advantages, fast food seems to be a good idea for busy people. We don’t make any effort in cooking, we can buy or take it anywhere we want in a very quick period of time and we can eat, work or study in the same time. Therefore, it will save our time significantly. Besides, fast food usually attracts many people, especially young generations by its flavors, beautiful decorations, and stimulate the taste buds, making people crave it. The convenience and reasonable prices of fast food are also enjoyed by many people. On the other hand, fast food will bring disadvantages to our health. Fast food contains many calories and cholesterols, so it can lead to obesity for those who eat too much. Moreover, studies have shown that eating fast food combined with soda, soft drinks regularly will be not good for liver, and the glycemic index is higher. Fast food is made of ingredients such as sausages, cold meat, bacon, fried chicken..., it contain high levels of salt and preservatives. If you absorb too much, it will be harmful to your heart and kidneys, increasing arterial blood pressure. Additionally, a 2011 British study on more than 14,000 children showed that eating fast food in a long time can have negative effects on children’s brain development. To sum up, fast food bring benefits to people but also many negative effects on our health. We need to eat properly in order to prevent diseases. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Bài làm: It is argued that the major advantage of global partnership is to preserve the environment, whereas other individuals mention that the most significant positives are in the field of international commerce. In this article, I will elaborate both sides of the argument, and my opinion is that worldwide cooperation could accelerate the use of renewable energy sources on a global scale. Some people argue that cooperation among nations would contribute most to the preservation of rare and endanger animals.
