Topic: The maps below show an industrial area in the town of Norbiton, and planned future development of the site. The provided maps illustrate the current design of an industrial region in the Norbiton town, along with planned changes occuring in the area. Overall, it is noticeable that the region is planned to experience various significant alterations, among which will be the demolition of factories and the construction of residential housing and other facilities. However, the locations of river, town and big roundabout will remain unchanged. Presently, there has been a circle in the center of industrial area, connected by two pathways. One of them branches off to the main road in the south of the map, the other reaches a factory situated in the eastern side. Meanwhile, other factories have been built around the roundabout and the second pathway. In the west of the region stands a town, leading to a river in the north of the map, with a farmland situated right above the river. In the future, the town will remain intact, while all factories will be removed to make room for other amenities. Notably, there will be two more pathways connected to the big circle. One way will lead northwest-ward to two houses, the other will directly seperate the old river in the north, with a new path constructed to protect people living in a house behind it, on its right side will be the farmland. A small roundabout is also planned to be built in the center of the road. Furthermore, the old pathway in the east will be expanded to construct accomodation, school and playground. Finally, shops and medical center will be located in either southern side of big roundabout Topic: The maps below show an industrial area in the town of Norbiton, and planned future development of the site. Đề: Many people say that the only way to guarantee getting a good job is to complete a course of university education. Others claim that it is better to start work after school and gain experience in the world of work. How far do you agree or disagree with the above views? BÀI LÀM It has been increasingly prevalent for people to believe that graduation from university is the main driving force for a favorable profession. Meanwhile, many opponents suggested that young people should find a job after high school and obtain experience in the workplace. As far as I am concerned, both standpoints are justifiable and I will further elaborate on this essay. To begin with, a growing number of individuals agree that university qualifications are the only key factor that results in career success. In the fast-paced world, it is undeniable that a large number of young people pursue doctors, teachers, engineers, and so on as their dream careers. Consequently, having a Bachelor’s Degree is compulsory in order to make their ambitions come true. Furthermore, recruiters are in favor of qualified applicants in curricula vitae screening and they are more likely to contact these applicants for an interview. For further explanation, curriculum vitae is a personal brief profile in which young people not only provide their personal information, but they can also showcase their certain level of intelligence, competence, and education. What is more, a university degree can demonstrate an individual’s educational background and expertise knowledge, which is recently a main driving force of recruitment in many companies. Hence, those who graduate tend to attract more employers, which can offer them a wide range of job opportunities and choices. Having said that, there is also a noticeable trend where people think going to work after graduating from school and earning experience is the superior orientation for the young generation. In fact, there are many professions that do not require any qualifications or diplomas. Take hairdressers, tattoo artists, and mechanics for example, a large figure of them are still able to work and earn money without a university education. Therefore, studying in universities is a waste of money and time in these cases. In terms of personal development, working adults can gain more life skills as well as their specific expertise. On top of that, the working environment plays an essential role in helping them become an independent and mature person as they have to learn how to manage their living expenses, and communication skills to get on with their colleagues and make a living by themselves. Interestingly, universities do not teach those practical skills but school of life. In conclusion, I feel that both perspectives are justifiable in their own way. Choosing to go to work or continue studying at the university after school depends on an individual’s orientation and family situation. From these factors, young adults can decide to pursue their own wishes in the most flexible and effective way that is suitable to their career path and personality. ĐỀ BÀI: Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. BÀI LÀM: It is often argued that student shoud be taught to become good people in society by school. However, some individuals think that parents also should teach students. In my view, i firmly believe that not only school but also parents should educate students to become useful people in society. School can be considered a ideal place so that students can gain knowledge and skills to enter society. Besides learning theoretical knowledge in books, nowadays, education is promoting teaching programs which have a tendency to guide the development of life skills, encourage using creativity and practical knowledge to apply lessons at school. Therefore, students can perceive both knowledge in textbooks and real life. The information which students learn will be conveyed by teachers who have experiences in teaching and also have solid practical knowledge. Moreover, parents can be quite busy, they do not have time to teach their children . Thus, it can be easier for students when they learn how to be a good members of society at school. Nevertheless, it does not mean that parents can not teach those to their children. Many parents have knowlege about certain field and they also experience in all circumstances in life so that they can certainly communicate to their children the useful information and teach students how to behave properly to become a helpful person. Some people think that school is better to students learn this due to parents are quite swamped. Sometimes, they can not meet their children very often because they are busy and their children also focus on studying. Thus, teaching children perhaps is the impossible thing. However, I think parents should strive to talk with children and teach them how to behave properly in life. To sum up, both parents and school are a good place to teach students. They are two important factors to make sure that students become good members in society. ĐỀ BÀI: Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. topic: Some people argue that technological inventions, such as mobile phones, are making people socially less interactive. Do you agree or disagree? It is said that with the development of advanced inventions such as smartphones, people’s relationships would become less interaction. I completely agree with this opinion and I will discuss about some its reasons in the essay. Firstly, modern gadgets have changed in the way that people entertained. In the past, when people did not have many devices such as smartphones, computer, and so on, they would engage in some activities such as playing sports, dacing, and so on that helped them relax and unwind. However, these days, when technology become more and more popular, as a result people tend to spend a lot of time on using advanced devices rather than join other activities. The reason is that there are many various kind of online games that are their favourite games on their phones. Therefore, Secondly, this trend also has changed the way that people make new friends. Traditionally, people need to meet face- to- face, chat and then if they had in commons, they would become friends. However, in modern society, people just use their mobiles phones and go online that help meet open-minded friends easily. For instance, when people are keen on cooking and want to make friends who have in common, they might use Facebook or Instagram, because there are many group which spend for cooking lovers on these platforms. That is so convenient but it might lead to a negative impact on our society. The evidence is that there are more and more people immerse to virtual life on social networking and gradually less contact with others in their real life espeacially young people. In conclusion, when modern inventions developed, they affected negatively on the interaction of our community because they have changed to the way of people’s entertaining and broadening friend relationships. topic: Some people argue that technological inventions, such as mobile phones, are making people socially less interactive. Question: Some people think that children should begin their education at a very early age. Some think they should begin at least 7 years old. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. In today’s modern society, education become a widespread field that requires greater consideration from the parents. While number of people argue that the youngsters should approach to learning environment since they were toddlers, others believe that it is unnecessary to educate under 7-year-old children. This essay will explain the notion as well as my own perspective. On the one hand, the youngsters who have the opportunities to access education at early age will enhance their creativity and critical thinking with high pace. Children in the age from 2 to 6 years old are better at memorizing and learning the foundation knowledges. Thereby, if the parents registered for their children to the kindergartens to study basic words and digits could sharpen their memory and acquire the background knowledges for higher education. Moreover, their personal traits could be enhanced by communicating with people surrounding them in an early age and improve the relationships between themselves and their childhood friends On the contrary, starting education from the primary schools assist children to prepare carefully before approaching new learning environment. The younger learners will acknowledge their own abilities and objectives that they want to pursue in the educational paths after spending time for sharing and taking care of by their parents. Nevertheless, primary school learners may suffer from stressed and isolation when going to school later than their peers. It alleviates their relationship development between their classmates and get troubles in making new friendships. As the result of lacks social communication, the children have the tendency to be awkward and isolate themselves from others unless their classmates approach first. In conclusion, the toddlers start education in an early age tend to have better foundation skills and relationships. However, the educational preparation would be witnessed in the children first access to the primary schools. In my opinion, I believe that approaching educational environment soon will have more significant benefits in children’ development. Topic: More and more people are relying on the Internet as their major source of news and information. What advantages does the Internet have for the average person? What disadvantages could it have now or in the future?" Bài làm: The number of people relying on the internet as their primary source of news and information is increasing dramatically. It turns out to be an indispensable tool when it comes to the information needed. While this trend offers several benefits, it also comes with certain disadvantages both presently and in the future. The most tangible advantage can be seen in the internet is that it provides plenty of sources of information. Readers can access many channels to obtain their needs from news about sports, politics, and so on. For instance, It is quite easy to stumble upon some articles, and academic essays that cite links from Google or Wikipedia on the internet. Additionally, the internet is considered to be a versatile tool for people to transport news in different forms. In this day and age, lots of applications are way more popular with internet users in covering news through videos or many entertaining forms namely YouTube, which helps enhance interest in working and studying. Along with the good sides, there are also the drawbacks that the internet brings back to users. One obvious disadvantage that easily can be met is unofficial and unwarranted sources. On a day-to-day basis, the amount of internet users is facilitated, which is an event for many channels to jump at the chance to attract viewers. As a consequence, everyone can distract and even understand the thinking distortions. On the other hand, the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has observed huge changes in internet function. Thus, it will lead to many risks in network security when they access any website or run across some sites that need an agreement to open them, and as a result, stolen credentials appear. In essence, It is irrefutable that the internet is a vital source in looking for news and information. Despite the internet bringing various sources of information and forms of delivering news, it can render users misunderstand and achieve unwarranted news. Personally, no matter how diverse the information is, the users have to be alert of any sources and cognitively clearly the information that they are receiving. Looking first at the two highest regions, the percentage of energy that can be renewed in Iceland saw a steady jump from 45% at the beginning to its peak of 70% in 2010. Meanwhile, that in Turkey slightly increased to over 40% in 2000, after bottoming out at 31% at the end of the period. Moving on to Australia and Sweden whose figures were both under 10%, this is easy to notice that there was a contrasting trend in the amount of energy that could an be restored in these areas. Question: Some people think movies should only be for entertainment. Others think that they should also have educational values. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Many people believe that films should merely be considered as a form of pastime, whereas others believe that each movie offers an educational aspect. This essay will first closely clarify both points of view before concluding that I agree with the latter. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people assume watching movies is an extremely effective leisure method. The key rationale in favor of this notion is that people nowaday are busy with their work and study schedule, and movies play an important role in releasing stress and depression. After finishing a day working at the workplace, everyone wants to sit and turn on one program on TV to relax instead of continuing to focus on other tasks. Therefore, many people might take films into consideration as a habit on a regular basis. Furthermore, the entertainment industry contributes many advantages to the improvement of the national economy. This is the prospective industry that brings billions of dollars and jobs for employees. Considering these, the idea of considering movies as a leisure activity is justifiable. On the other hand, I am convinced that movies not only bring entertainment, but also offer lessons in many aspects. This is because films provide behavior patterns that impact on our lives in both negative and positive terms. For example, what children watch in formative years could shape their personality, thus they are able to have objective eyesight about surroundings. Besides, recent films tend to be implemented based on real stories, emphasizing the cultural identity of each area. As a result, people could broaden the cultural horizon as well as learn about life in other nations through movies. In conclusion, while there are justifications that films should simply be a source of entertainment, I would contend that educational value is a vital element that enhances the humanity of the movies. Question: The best way to ensure the growth of children is to make parents take parenting courses. Do you agree or disagree? Many people believe that attending parenting courses is the most effective method to nurture their children comprehensively. While I acknowledge the reasons behind this thinking, I would argue that there are many ways that could offer better results in children's development. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people recognize the benefits of taking nurturing classes. The main reason is that these courses are designed to suit children’s growth progress. Parents who come to class for infancy care, for instance, would be taught by the newborn professions. They have numerous experience in studying newborn’s behavior and emotion, thus could easily satisfy them. In addition, parenting classes provide a community for parents whose children are at the same ages, that they could share about their children’s educational measures. Therefore, the family relationships might become more connected and understanding. On the other hand, I am convinced that taking training courses for parents is unnecessary. This is because these courses cost a high registration fee and almost all young families receive the support from the grandparents, who have experience in taking care of a child from birth until mature age. Woman in Vietnam after giving birth to a baby, for example, could ask her parents or her husband’s parents to give a hand. Moreover, many families could not arrange time to attend nurture courses because of their heavy schedule. Adults have to balance their work and life at the same time, even though they sometimes might work overtime or have a meeting. In conclusion, while there are justifications that taking parenting classes could bring positive results, I would contend that this should not be compulsory as the reasons mentioned above. Topic : In the modern world, schools are no longer necessary because there is so much information available through the internet that children can study just as well at home. To what extent do you agree or disagree. In these days, some people believe that it is redundant to go to school by virtue of the availability of a range of knowledge on the internet so that children can study at home. This essay totally disagress with this view for the following reasons. To begin with, teachers at school can help students develop comprehensively, which home-schooling is incapable of. Provided that teachers have a chance to supervise the children on a daily basis, they can understand the learning capacity of each students in order to assist them in improving their weaknesses and enhancing their strong points. For instance, a teacher can help his student to overcome his weak point in maths, which learning at home cannot achieve the same effect. However, if the student studies at home and relies on the source of information on the internet, it can be more challenging for him to realize the existing issue. Subsequently, going to school enables students to enhance due to teachers’ help. Studying at school, moreover, provides he adolescents opportunities to improve their soft skills. To clarify, commnunicating or working with friends allows students to be more sociable, independent and develop their team work. For example, getting prepared for a presentation at school helps children to get on well with their peers and also enhance their leading skill as well. Therefore, going to school is beneficial for the young on the grounds that soft skills are improved. Question: It is more important to spend public money on promoting a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent illness than to spend it on treatment of people who are already ill. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Many people believe that the government should prioritize allocating resources to enhance healthy lifestyle rather than spending money on cures for patients. While I acknowledge the reasons behind this thinking, I would argue that people who are already ill also need to be paid attention. On the one hand, it is understandable why some people believe the authorities should finance to encourage activities that are beneficial for health. The main reason is that more and more people have unhealthy lifestyles and habits in recent years. For instance, those who eat too much fast food and less exercise could be prone to obesity and diabete. Therefore, measures could be implemented to prevent sedentary lifestyles, which offer health risks. Moreover, there are various diseases that are easily transmitted by chance such as HIV, AIDS. Healthy lifestyles might help us increase resistance and resist diseases. Considering these, the idea of investing to promote healthy lifestyles is justifiable. On the other hand, I am convinced that the government should spend a certain fund on sponsoring cure fees. This is because treatment costs might increase the financial burden of the family, many people who are disadvantaged could not afford a huge amount of money for this. For instance, those who are at stage one of cancer could have the ability to cure if the government supports medical expenses. Furthermore, some diseases bring inherited elements that no one wants to suffer from. Therefore, facilitating the import of modern technology and medicine helps people get access to new treatment methods and raise their ability to combat diseases. In conclusion, while there are justifications that healthy lifestyles need to be concentrated on by the government, I would contend that investing in treatment methods is equally important. Đề: More and more students choose to move to other countries to study their higher education. Do you think the advantages of this outweigh its disadvantages? Bài làm: An increasing number of students have opted to pursue higher educational levels in foreign countries. I consider that the benefits of this phenomenon, such as self-development through international exposure and the promotion of essential skills, overshadow the drawback, including the high cost of tuition fees and living expenses. There are two advantages of going to study abroad. Firstly, it provides opportunities for students to gain international exposure. By immersing themselves in a new culture, they can develop a deeper understanding of different perspectives and ways of life. For example, many Vietnamese students opt for Australia to study due to its unique culture, rare wildlife and breathtaking structures. Additionally, pursuing higher education abroad contributes to the development of crucial skills. In fact, international students are required to adapt to unfamiliar environments and manage their finances effectively. As an example, if a Vietnamese student in Australia must learn to adapt quickly, solve problems independently, and make wise decisions for success. Therefore, overseas students would gain a broader understanding of the world and develop essential life skills, which would be invaluable throughout their life. Despite this, it is challenging to pay expenses related to living and education when studying abroad. In fact, most of students tend to choose developed nations to study abroad, such as the United States, which is why they need to have a financial source to pay each day. This is exemplified by the fact that my neighbor, after studying abroad in Australia for 2 years, he had to return to Vietnam. This is because he did not afford to pay his course fees and living costs. As a result, the high cost of tuition fees and living expenses make many students challenging when going to study overseas. In conclusion, I utterly believe that the advantages of studying in other countries, namely international exposure and the development of essential skills, eclipse its disadvantage, including the steep expenses for tuition and living. It seems to me that educational institutions should organize workshops with the view to taking to students about the benefits of studying abroad, thus it can lead to personal and professional development. Bài làm: The bar chart illustrates the proportions of government expenditure /national budget spent on roads and transport in different countries during the interval of fifteen years starting from 1990. To summarize, there were upward trends in spending on roads and transport in all countries experienced falls over the year, with Portugal and Italy spending far more money than those in the UK and USA. Additionally, the UK spent the least amount of money over the whole period. Đề: The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010. Bài làm: The two presented maps depict the changes that took place in a city hospital between 2008 and 2010. In summary, it is noticeable that the largest changes involved transportation with the addition of a bus station, two roundabouts and a separate public car park. In 2007, the hospital road, with had three bus stops on the either side, was connected to the City Road and to the Ring Road. Additionally, a common park was located on the east side of the hospital road, and it served both staff and public members. The changes were mainly around the hospital and the largest of these was related to parking. By 2010, they decided to separate the public and staff parking by adding an exclusively public car park running along the east side of the hospital. Furthermore, two roundabouts had been constructed at both ends of the hospital road, one at the intersection with the Ring Road and another one at the City Road junction. In addition, bus stops were removed to give way to a new bus station connected to two aforementioned roundabouts. Đề: The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010. Topic: Many customs and traditional ways of behavior are no longer relevant to modern life and not worth keeping. Do you agree or disagree? It is claimed that there is no point in preserving some traditional approaches and customs as they are of no relevance to the individuals’ lives. Although I acknowledge the logic behind this view, I still strongly disagree with it for several reasons. Those who support the elimination of traditions and customs may have some valid arguments. They may well argue that certain traditional practices lack ethics and even impose potential risks on individuals. The practice of inbreeding in some ethnic tribes, for instance, may result in some fetal malformations or even stillbirth. Another possible argument is that some traditional approaches may lead to unpleasing problems in modern society. For example, in some nations, girls in mountainous areas are not allowed to go to school but to stay at home and do housework. This can cause gender inequality and become obstacles in the career path of women. Nevertheless, I still firmly oppose this claim for several reasons. Chief among these is that some traditions and customs are still applicable in today’s world. To be specific, traditions that reinforce personal responsibility and work ethics may cultivate good manners and moral standards among young generations. For instance, values such as helping the needy, hard work, and honesty taught by our forefathers should be carried on. The second reason is that the cultural values of previous generations are likely to preserve our national identity. In fact, traditional customs can hinder cultural assimilation which can be caused by globalization and cultural integration by highlighting the cultural significance among the citizens of the country. In conclusion, it is understandable why some people may argue that old norms and traditions should be eliminated due to the lack of morality and some societal issues in modern life. However, I cannot totally support such a view as established traditions are still valid in the modern era and can foster national identity. Therefore, it is vital to determine which traditional values deserve preservation and which ones should be abolished.
