The overuse of high-tech devices, particularly computers resulting from the endlessly continuous development of technology makes varied people nowadays have in mind that they would not be capable of surviving or laboring, but not having them. Contrastingly, other people believe that computers commonly exist as a barrier to humankind in today's world. This essay will analyze the issue from both sides before my personal perspective is provided. On the one hand, there are various ways in which computers are more a hindrance than a help. Initially, in terms of health, not only can negatively affect our vision, but it may also have a risky influence on our human skeleton, particularly the backbone. It is to say if humans use computers for a long time, too much exposure to blue light from computer screens can cause digital eye strain. Furthermore, it is evident that regular usage of computers without any limitations can bring about long-lasting laziness in human behavior, making people less active and more sleepy. On the other hand, individuals feel computers as an indispensable tools, regardless its danger level. Despite the drastic negatives provided, one cannot turn a blind eye to the incontestable benefits that it is the easiest way to collect data. We all acknowledge there are limitations to memorizing capability in our brain, and we cannot remember various information. Thus, we need computers not only to do this work but also to do other types. For example, with computer assistance, we can organize several specific apps to help us manage and fulfill our work from a distance, not having any common mistakes or embarrassing imperfections. After considering the issue, I am more sympathetic to the second view. Although there are several opinions that computers negatively affect our lives, I personally acquiesce that its benefits outweigh its drawbacks. Nevertheless, it is an advice that you should not stay on the computer for hours per day in order not to suffer from health and mentality problems. WRITING TASK 2 You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic: There is a lot of pressure on young people today to succeed academically. As a result, some people believe that non-academic subjects, such as physical education and cookery, should be removed from the school syllabus so that children can concentrate on academic work. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience. Write at least 250 words. Bài viết: Some people believe that the young should be forced to pursue academic subjects and ignore non-academic ones such as physical education and cookery in order to become successful. In my opinion, I do not agree with the idea of removing non-academic subjects from the curriculum as all subjects are important and can contribute to the complete development of children. On the one hand, the opponents encourage young people to just concentrate on educational disciplines since they believe these can help their kids succeed. Children are being put more and more pressure to make an effort to study academic fields such as math or physics. Obviously, these subjects can stimulate kids' brains and help them solve problems logically. As a result, some people consider being good at academic disciplines with intelligence and higher opportunities to achieve greater results. On the other hand, concentrating on succeeding academically and neglecting other fields may lead children to lack life skills. First, when they are put under the expectation of others about high academic results from an early age, they can only focus on that work and forget other necessary skills. For instance, in many families, the parents do not let their kids do any household chores as they want the children to focus on their studies, some even choose to send them to extra classes for better marks. Properly, when these children grow up, they can be extremely good at some academic field but do not know how to do basic housework. Moreover, when non-academic subjects like physical education and cookery are removed, children will not have time for outdoor and leisure activities. They will not have an environment to interact with other people and improve their communication skills. Although many people are not aware of the importance of non-academic subjects to the young population, it is clear that when the body is healthy with physical activity, the brain can work better with studious disciplines. In conclusion, I strongly believe that both academic and non-academic subjects have positive impacts on children as each kind has its own way of developing children's abilities. Therefore, I do not agree with detaching non-academic subjects from the school syllabus. With the combination of all necessary fields, young individuals can be successful. Topic: More and more people are migrating to cities in search of a better life, but city life can be extremely difficult. Explain some of the difficulties of living in a city. How can governments make urban life better for everyone? It is true that there is a large number of people moving to a metropolis which is known as a place of economy, healthcare, and education development that makes city life become more and more difficult for everyone. There are a variety of possible reasons for this, but steps can definitely be taken to tackle the problem. In my opinion, three main factors are to blame for the challenge of living in a large city. Firstly, when living in a big city we have to face complicated issues as the cost of living is likely to be much higher than it is in a small town or rural area. Besides, housing is usually much more expensive, and we have to pay higher prices for food, healthcare, and transportation. Secondly, the street and public transport systems are usually overcrowded which leads us to suffer from intractable problems such as traffic congestion, air pollution, or mental health. Finally, one of the primary reasons for social inequality is high population concentration which contributes to social issues such as high crime and poverty rates, environmental degradation, or a gap between rich and poor. However, these problems can certainly be improved if governments have reasonable policies. I suppose that they should invest money in the building of affordable or social housing, the cost of living needs to be regulated appropriately. It is necessary for the authorities to enhance the public transport network, and encourage all residents to use sustainable public transportation which helps to reduce both air pollution and traffic jams. In Vietnam, for example, the introduction of eco-friendly buses or motorbikes to curb the air pollution problem. Another measure is that the government should promote economic development by creating more jobs in provincial towns or remote areas to help mitigate the pressure on major cities and balance social equality. In conclusion, these difficulties will continue to survive in the future unless the government implements a range of measures to enhance a better quality of life for all citizens.
